Requirements
  • Knowledge of the commercial lending industry, processes, policies, and portfolio management.
  • Knowledge of commercial and consumer lending regulations, compliance, required regulatory reporting, and related practices.
  • Knowledge of financial software systems used for member services, sales and referrals, commercial lending, and business banking.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and the Microsoft Office 365 suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to use the credit union’s financial and commercial lending software to access member accounts and manage new and existing loan deals.
  • Ability to identify and analyze commercial customer business documents and navigate lending decisions.
  • Ability to independently network to build and establish relationships with business customers.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively verbally and in writing and present complex financial information to clients, the Market President, or the Commercial Loan Committee.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Management, or an equivalent field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in commercial business lending and business development or as a credit analyst.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Must have an acceptable credit history.
  • Must meet SAFE Act requirements.
  • Strong sales drive, commercial lending knowledge, financial acumen, communication and relationship-building ability, mathematical skills, and reasoning ability.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a commercial loan portfolio.
  • Interview applicants to determine loan requirements and gather necessary information for loan applications.
  • Analyze financial statements and other relevant data to recommend lending solutions based on client needs and financial capabilities.
  • Evaluate creditworthiness and present well-structured lending proposals.
  • Offer tailored financial solutions to meet client objectives while enhancing customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Develop customized loan proposals and present them to clients to secure new business and maintain existing relationships.
  • Follow up on pending loan deals and loan renewals.
  • Prepare regular sales activity reports and provide updates on portfolio performance, new business, and market developments to the Market President or Commercial Loan Committee.
  • Present key metrics, successes, challenges, and recommendations during management meetings.
  • Monitor loan performance to ensure risk is appropriately managed and financial objectives are met.
  • Identify new business opportunities and develop strategic partnerships across the region to drive loan growth and revenue.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with existing and potential clients by understanding their business needs, goals, and long-term strategies.
  • Prospect for new clients to expand the credit union’s market share.
  • Conduct presentations on the credit union’s products and services to attract and retain clients.
  • Leverage industry contacts and existing relationships to generate revenue and achieve sales goals.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to cross-sell additional products and services.
  • Engage in industry forums or business networks to increase brand awareness and build relationships with key influencers and decision-makers.
