About the Job

Requirements

  • Have taken a design system from nothing to adoption in an organization that had neither and was not yet convinced it needed one, including knowing how to structure tokens to avoid product-specific forks.
  • Be able to read React and CSS, understand component APIs, run a repository locally, and open a pull request; hold technical conversations and design buildable interfaces.
  • Be able to influence stakeholders who have independent roadmaps and deadlines without relying on authority.
  • Demonstrate exceptional command of layout systems, typography, color, and visual hierarchy in dense, complex professional interfaces.
  • Have practical experience using AI tools to accelerate documentation, generate and audit variants, maintain tokens, or migrate code, and be able to assess where the tools help or fail.
  • Have owned user experience end-to-end for complex professional products, from discovery through shipped product and subsequent learning, with a portfolio demonstrating systems thinking and visual work.
  • Be an expert in Figma.

Responsibilities

  • Build a design system from the ground up, starting with a Figma library, shared foundations, and written guidance, then developing token architecture, coded components, and scalable documentation.
  • Decide the system's sequence, what should be a token versus a local decision, and how to balance flexibility with consistency.
  • Co-design components with frontend engineers by discussing properties, state, and composition, reading pull requests, and prototyping in a code branch when useful.
  • Promote adoption with product managers, engineers, and leadership; run office hours and perform migration work when needed to unblock teams.
  • Set and maintain the craft bar across the design-system domain.
  • Apply AI tools to component documentation, variant generation, token maintenance, migration codemods, and specification drafting.
  • Remain accountable for adoption, consistency, shipped user-interface quality, and the speed at which teams can build.
  • Work with designers in other domains, brand and marketing design, sales engineers, and customers to negotiate consistency across the organization.

Desired Qualifications

  • Treat accessibility as a default rather than an audit.
  • Have experience with theming, dark mode, or multi-brand systems.
  • Have experience with data-dense, map-heavy, or real-time interfaces.
  • Have public writing or open-source contributions on design systems.
  • Have worked in high-stakes or regulated environments where mistakes are costly.

About the Company

ICEYE

SAR satellite constellation for Earth monitoring

ICEYE builds and operates the world’s largest synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation to monitor the Earth continuously, day or night and in any weather. Its SAR satellites capture radar imagery that can see through clouds and darkness, giving customers in defence and intelligence, insurance, emergency management, and environmental monitoring a persistent view of wide areas. Images and analytics are delivered from a network of satellites and, increasingly, sovereign constellations that governments can operate themselves. ICEYE plans to scale up production toward about 100 satellites per year by 2028 and has pursued large funding rounds to expand capacity and sovereign delivery, aiming to grow its revenue and backlog while offering reliable, near-real-time Earth observation data.
