  • A high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a Medical Assisting Program are required.
  • One year of experience in a clinic or hospital setting is preferred.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position and meet its attendance requirements.
  • Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
  • Must deliver excellent customer service internally and externally.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the physician with physical examinations and carry out nursing treatments and procedures according to documented physician orders.
  • Take patient histories, vital signs, symptoms, and conditions, and document them in the medical record.
  • Administer patient immunizations according to clinical protocols and provider instructions.
  • Administer medications and treatments ordered by the provider.
  • Check treatment-room equipment for proper functioning and stock supplies.
  • Perform laboratory duties, including daily quality checks, log-book documentation, specimen processing, result documentation, provider notification of abnormal results, daily cleaning and disinfection, and monthly submission of quality-control and patient-testing logs.
  • Travel to other Centro Del Barrio sites as needed to carry out duties.
  • Assist the provider with specialized examinations, treatments, and procedures as directed.
  • Maintain supply-room inventory and assist the LVN Nurse Supervisor with other duties.
  • Perform venipuncture as ordered by the provider.
  • Follow infection-control policies and procedures in the Centro del Barrio Infection Control Manual.
  • Follow hazardous-materials policies and procedures in the Employee Safety Manual.
  • Follow all safety policies in the Employee Safety Manual.
  • Demonstrate competence with all patients.
  • Participate in the agency’s Quality Improvement Program.
  • Perform other duties as required.
