Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a behavioral or social sciences field, or in a job-related field of study, or equivalent education and experience.
  • One year of work-related experience.
  • Skill in using standard software applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the general public.
  • A valid Texas driver's license and a good driving record are required.
  • Must become a Certified Juvenile Probation Officer within six months of employment.
  • Must pass an extensive background investigation.
  • Must complete mandatory pre-employment drug testing and submit to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment.
  • Ability to travel to various work site locations.
  • Ability to restrain and/or chase youth when working within a secured facility.
Responsibilities
  • Interview clients to gather information, conduct needs assessments, and develop service or case plans and recommendations.
  • Serve as a liaison among clients, clients' families, law enforcement, courts, service providers, and community agencies to coordinate activities, develop prevention strategies, and monitor service effectiveness.
  • Document and maintain case records in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and provide accurate and timely reports.
  • Provide individual, family, or group counseling.
  • Use community resources to follow up on referrals and monitor service providers for program compliance.
  • Participate in team meetings to review client progress and other pertinent information essential to meeting client needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
