Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and boiler systems is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of interior construction, smooth drywall, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, doors, and hardware is required.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions is required.
  • Verbal de-escalation and physical intervention training as approved by the Chief Nursing Officer is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • The ability to maintain patient confidentiality is required.
  • The ability to prioritize projects, work relatively independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines is required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, in person, and by telephone is required.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively is required.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are required.
  • The position requires the ability to perform basic arithmetic, interpret laws, regulations, and policies, and collect, interpret, and analyze data and information.
  • The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally, and to work in indoor and outdoor conditions involving extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, mechanical and electrical hazards, scaffolding or heights, chemicals, fumes, dust, gases, poor ventilation, oils, and cutting fluids.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to keep building systems operating efficiently and prevent deterioration of the buildings.
  • Repair and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Perform general repairs and grounds maintenance.
  • Perform basic plumbing and electrical tasks.
  • Operate and maintain the Building Management System controlling the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Conduct and complete weekly and monthly inspections and testing to maintain the facility and support Environment of Care, Life Safety, and Emergency Management regulatory compliance.
  • Set up phones and computers for staff and troubleshoot phone and computer issues, with assistance from Kebok when needed.
  • Complete assigned work orders, including minor plumbing work, unclogging toilets, replacing light bulbs and ballasts, patching and painting, maintaining patient and staff phones, and assembling and moving staff furniture.
  • Distribute copy and printer paper, replace copier and printer toner and toner waste cartridges, empty document shredding bins, and pick up garbage on hospital grounds.
  • Help conduct fire drills and perform Environment of Care sweeps for ligature risks, blocked fire alarm pull stations, blocked electrical panels, blocked fire extinguishers, and stained or damaged ceiling tiles.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Perform facility cleaning and other special functions.
  • Respond to alarms and emergency codes.
  • Comply with facility safety, infection control, and security programs.
  • Participate in activities that enhance professional growth and development.
  • Perform related duties as requested.
  • Uphold the organization's ethics and customer service standards.
