About the company

American Tower is a global real estate investment trust that owns, operates, and develops wireless and broadcast infrastructure. It primarily leases space on its 220,000+ multi-tenant communications towers to wireless carriers, broadcasters, and other network operators, generating revenue from long-term rent with initial terms of 5-10 years and renewals. The towers and services enable tenants to mount their equipment and connect networks; rent is based on the amount of equipment and tower location. The company differentiates itself through its large global portfolio, scale, and high barriers to entry in tower construction, giving it a diversified, stable tenant base that includes major carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. The goal is to provide secure, long-term, essential communications infrastructure and to deliver predictable cash flow for shareholders by expanding and optimizing its tower network worldwide.

Local leaders call for more ICT hubs as ATC-Uganda opens digital center in Kabale.

Local leaders call for more ICT hubs as ATC-Uganda opens digital center in Kabale. Tuesday, September 29, 2026 * Beneficiaries also shared the tangible impact of the program. Mr Alfred Mujuni, 62, testified that the digital literacy certificate he earned at the Kabale center enabled him to secure employment as a secretary for a Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCO and contributed to his election as general secretary of his parish council. Local leaders in Kabale Municipality have called for the expansion of free Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centers across the region to boost research and innovation among students in tertiary institutions and secondary schools. The leaders made the appeal on Tuesday during the official commissioning of a multi-million-shilling digital community center at Kabale Public Library. Established by American Tower Corporation-Uganda (ATC-Uganda) in partnership with the National Library of Uganda, the hub provides free computer literacy training, internet access, and digital tools to community members regardless of age or background. Kabale Municipality hosts four universities, five tertiary institutions, and several primary and secondary schools, creating a high demand for digital infrastructure. Speaking at the launch, the Principal Assistant Town Clerk for Southern Division, Mr Hassan Rwamango, commended the initiative but urged investors to scale up services to accommodate the rising demand across all three divisions of the municipality. "We welcome this establishment, but it is our wish that such facilities are established in all three divisions of Kabale Municipality to serve the increased need for ICT services," Mr Rwamango said. "Many university, tertiary, secondary, and primary school learners usually converge at this facility, yet the space and equipment are not enough to serve them all at once. Kabale Municipality is ready to partner with any investors interested in promoting advanced ICT services." Echoing his sentiments, Kabale Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr Michael Kyakashari, noted that free internet and computer access would foster creativity, reduce youth unemployment, and contribute to national economic growth. "While we welcome the establishment of this ICT learning center, we implore other investors to copy this trend and boost creativity and innovation among the youth, some of whom are already earning from developing digital content that solves community challenges," Mr Kyakashari said. Ms Dorothy Ssemanda, the Chief Executive Officer of ATC-Uganda, explained that the center is part of the company's corporate social responsibility strategy to bridge the digital divide and improve technology skills in underserved areas. "The Kabale Public Library digital community center has delivered commendable results since 2024, with more than 3,000 people benefiting from it," Ms Ssemanda stated. "To date, we have established 84 digital community centers countrywide, comprising 59 computer hubs in schools and 25 electronic medical record hubs in health centers. Over the six years since the program's inception, the initiative has reached more than 130,000 beneficiaries." She urged community members to safeguard ATC-Uganda's telecommunication infrastructure from vandalism to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. Beneficiaries also shared the tangible impact of the program. Mr Alfred Mujuni, 62, testified that the digital literacy certificate he earned at the Kabale center enabled him to secure employment as a secretary for a Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCO and contributed to his election as general secretary of his parish council. Presiding over the commissioning ceremony, the U.S. Embassy Chargé d'Affaires, Mr Mikael Cleverley, lauded ATC-Uganda for investing in community-driven technological solutions. "ATC-Uganda, being the backbone of communication in this country, is critical," Mr Cleverley said. "Thank you for your corporate social responsibility strategy for the communities you serve. Use the center to promote innovations because of their several opportunities." YOU MAY LIKE Five-star memories in Punta Cana. Not all memories feel the same. American Tower (AMT) bets on 5G density, AI workloads, and CoreSite to drive sustained growth.

American Tower (AMT) bets on 5G density, AI workloads, and CoreSite to drive sustained growth. American Tower Corporation (AMT) is pointing to a cluster of converging trends that its leadership believes will sustain demand for wireless infrastructure well into the next decade. Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, President and Chief Executive Officer Steven Vondran identified four key catalysts driving the business: densification, 6G, spectrum availability, and AI. The current phase of carrier network deployment is shifting decisively toward capacity rather than coverage, giving American Tower a reliable near-term source of organic growth. Vondran described 5G densification as the company's first strategic priority for 2026, as carriers continue augmenting their networks to handle surging data traffic. AI is already generating measurable demand inside American Tower's CoreSite business, which Vondran framed as an interconnection hub rather than simply a data center operator. The CoreSite customer mix spans clouds, networks, and enterprises, and the rise of AI inferencing has elevated the importance of multi-cloud and multi-inferencing environments where enterprises connect directly to multiple tools. Vondran said CoreSite has increased capacity by about 1.5 times since American Tower acquired the business, and more capacity is currently under construction than at any previous point in its history. Demand is exceeding what CoreSite can currently serve, Vondran noted, adding that interconnection revenue is experiencing record growth as enterprises seek faster and more flexible connectivity. On domestic leasing, Vondran said 2026 organic tenant billings growth is approximately 4.5% after normalizing for Dish-related churn, including roughly 2.5% from new leases and amendments, a rate also seen in 2025. He declined to offer 2027 guidance ahead of the company's planned February outlook, describing the current leasing environment as consistent with a normal investment cycle. Internationally, American Tower is working to reduce exposure to emerging markets after its portfolio became too heavily weighted in that direction, having already divested assets in the Philippines and Bangladesh. Vondran said there is no requirement to sell additional assets, and the company will weigh whether further sales create greater value than retaining those assets and harvesting their cash flow. CoreSite is growing at a double-digit rate and is expected to become a larger contributor to attributable AFFO as AI and cloud connectivity demand continues to intensify. Europe is growing faster than the United States based on American Tower's current portfolio and cycle, while Africa has been delivering high-single-digit to double-digit growth and Latin America is recovering. American Tower is still awaiting resolution of an arbitration with AT&T Mexico over rent increase calculations under its contracts, with a decision potentially arriving by year-end or spilling into next year.

CVC DIF expands Aurora Towers platform with Canadian telecom tower acquisition.

CVC DIF expands Aurora Towers platform with Canadian telecom tower acquisition. (IN BRIEF) CVC DIF, the infrastructure business of global private markets manager CVC, has announced that its portfolio company Aurora Towers has signed a definitive agreement to acquire American Tower Corporation's Canadian telecommunications tower business, comprising 255 wireless communication sites across Canada. The acquisition, to be made through DIF Infrastructure VIII, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals, and will expand Aurora's tower portfolio from more than 400 sites to over 650 sites. CVC DIF said the highly complementary portfolio has minimal overlap with Aurora's existing footprint and will strengthen Aurora Towers' position as one of Canada's largest independent wireless tower operators. The deal follows CVC DIF's late-2025 acquisition of SBA Communications' Canadian wireless tower business, which established Aurora as an independent Canadian tower platform, and is intended to enhance Aurora's scale, customer relationships and ability to support major Canadian wireless operators with network infrastructure needs. (PRESS RELEASE) LUXEMBOURG, 27-Aug-2026 - /EuropaWire/ - CVC DIF, the infrastructure business of global private markets manager CVC, has announced that its portfolio company Aurora Towers has signed a definitive agreement to acquire American Tower Corporation's Canadian telecommunications tower business. The transaction covers 255 wireless communication sites across Canada. The investment will be made through DIF Infrastructure VIII and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. The acquisition will significantly expand Aurora Towers' portfolio, increasing its site base from more than 400 locations to over 650 sites across Canada. CVC DIF said the transaction will further strengthen Aurora's position as one of Canada's largest independent wireless tower operators. The portfolio being acquired is highly complementary to Aurora's existing footprint and has minimal overlap with its current sites. CVC DIF said the combination will meaningfully enhance Aurora's scale and reach, while expanding its relationships with major Canadian wireless operators across a broader site base. Aurora Towers was established as an independent Canadian tower platform after CVC DIF acquired SBA Communications' Canadian wireless tower business in late 2025. Since that initial investment, Aurora has made significant progress in becoming a standalone organisation. The company has strengthened its commercial capabilities through a dedicated management team and has further developed its relationships with Canadian wireless operators. Tom Goossens, Partner and Co-Head of the DIF Infrastructure Funds at CVC DIF, said the acquisition is a natural next step in the development of Aurora Towers. He said the acquired portfolio is highly complementary to Aurora's existing sites and will significantly increase the scale of the platform. Goossens added that the transaction will further strengthen Aurora's relationships with Canada's leading wireless operators. He said the combination will create a stronger independent tower business with the capabilities and scale to support customers as they continue investing in networks across Canada. Kanan Joshi, Partner, Co-Head of North America and Head of Digital Infrastructure at CVC DIF, said Aurora Towers has built strong momentum since becoming an independent platform. He said the combination of the two portfolios will give Aurora a stronger foundation to support customers and is aligned with CVC DIF's broader strategy of building resilient digital infrastructure platforms across North America. Lawrence Gleason, Chief Executive Officer of Aurora Towers, said the company has made strong progress since becoming an independent platform and described the acquisition as an important next step in its growth. He said bringing together two highly complementary portfolios will broaden Aurora's presence across Canada and strengthen its ability to support the country's leading wireless operators with their network infrastructure needs. CVC DIF said the transaction reflects continued demand for independent digital infrastructure platforms capable of supporting wireless network investment and connectivity requirements across large geographic markets.
