Requirements
  • The candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
  • The candidate must be able to pass a background check.
  • The candidate must be willing to become CPR/AED certified; current certification is preferred but will be provided.
  • The candidate must be able to stand and move continually throughout the facilities during the shift.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate continually in person, by phone, and through apps during the shift.
  • The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • The candidate must perform frequent cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities and refill cleaning chemicals.
  • The candidate must be able to move through different positions, including bending and twisting, to accomplish tasks.
  • The candidate must have basic computer proficiency.
Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision to users of the fitness center, gymnasium, activity rooms, tennis courts, and soccer field.
  • Ensure that all safety and emergency protocols are followed.
  • Arrive on time wearing appropriate attire for the duties.
  • Communicate absences in advance and take initiative to find coverage.
  • Follow procedures for opening and closing the facilities.
  • Greet students, staff, and faculty as they enter and exit the facility and assist with questions or concerns during check-in.
  • Ensure that patrons follow policies and redirect them as needed.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor during scheduled shifts.
  • Resolve concerns and escalate them to a supervisor as needed.
  • Answer phones and assist callers with their inquiries.
  • Provide regular and consistent cleaning and sanitizing of exercise equipment.
  • Perform laundry, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping according to specific cleaning protocols.
  • Conduct comprehensive walkthroughs of the fitness center, activity rooms, gymnasium, tennis courts, and soccer field; quickly fix or report safety or policy issues and address cleanliness concerns.
  • Take initiative to ensure facility safety and promptly report maintenance and facility concerns, including broken or missing equipment and unsafe conditions.
  • Anticipate, recognize, and respond to emergencies; provide necessary assistance and report to the direct supervisor.
  • Respond to emergencies and follow the Emergency Action Plan.
  • Follow all policies and procedures in the staff handbook.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties assigned by Campus Recreation staff members.
  • Perform special projects such as tabling support, group fitness support, tennis court support, and vehicle support.
Desired Qualifications
  • Six to twelve months of experience in a customer service environment.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
