Requirements
  • An associate degree in a related field and five years of related experience, or eight years of direct experience in the custodial and/or grounds keeping field as a supervisor or manager.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for integrated physical plant activities and programs, including custodial services, moving, grounds, and recycling.
  • Establish and maintain customer service procedures and standards, interface with customers, and resolve problems and conflicts.
  • Oversee personnel supervision, work allocation, mentoring, training, promotions, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, problem resolution, performance evaluations, personnel-action recommendations, and employee productivity.
  • Oversee team operations, assign work activities and responsibilities, evaluate organizational effectiveness and productivity, and resolve problems across campuses and sites.
  • Develop and implement systems and processes for maintaining operating-unit records.
  • Evaluate teams and modify programs to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop or assist with implementing policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe unit operations.
  • Oversee internal and external contract personnel and inspect work for adherence to contract specifications and industry standards.
  • Ensure daily operations comply with College, city, county, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations, including OSHA.
  • Ensure the department operates within budget and purchases comply with New Mexico State Procurement guidelines.
  • Ensure employees comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act and document all time worked.
  • Inspect or review reports and requests to determine building and grounds maintenance and repair needs, then prioritize the work.
  • Provide the Director of Maintenance and Operations with metrics on staffing, hiring, overtime, cost control, recycling, safety incidents, workers' compensation incidents, customer complaints, production, and scheduling.
  • Plan, create, direct, manage, and coordinate the Operations Department work plan; meet with supervisors and staff to resolve problems; assign projects and program responsibilities; and review work methods and procedures.
  • Work with the department overseeing capital improvement projects as the content expert for the operations division.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
