Requirements
  • Must have a DVM or equivalent degree, by start date.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in veterinary oncology (ACVIM) is required by start date.
  • Wisconsin Veterinary License, by start date
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain licensure to practice Veterinary Medicine, by start date.
Responsibilities
  • Clinical responsibilities (45%): Clinical service to the Medical Oncology section of UW Veterinary Care for up to 24 weeks a year; training and supervision of residents and interns; clinical teaching of 4th year veterinary students.
  • Non-clinical teaching responsibilities (20%): Didactic and laboratory course teaching in the preclinical curriculum is both asynchronous and synchronous totaling 15-20 hours dependent upon needs of the curriculum and applicant experience.
  • Research responsibilities (25%): Contribute to and participate in basic or clinical research in the Medical oncology section, including mentoring of house officers in research.
  • Service responsibilities (10%): Involvement in committees at the Department, School, and University level, along with involvement nationally at the professional committee level. Participate in continuing education programs for veterinary practitioners in Wisconsin and beyond.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior academic experience beyond residency training is preferred, though equivalent experience in a specialty practice setting will also be considered.
  • We are looking for candidates who demonstrate a clear commitment to teaching and clinical instruction of DVM students, interns, and residents.
