- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- AHA Basic Life Support Certification is required.
- The candidate must successfully pass the CUH Dysrhythmia Telemetry Exam with a minimum score of 80%, including 100% accuracy on all lethal arrhythmia identification questions.
- The candidate must be able to communicate with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
- The role requires working 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, three shifts every week, every third preassigned weekend, every other holiday, and one hallmark holiday.
- Assist in providing direct, indirect, and non-patient care responsibilities.
- Assume responsibility for record keeping, intra-departmental and interdepartmental communications, and written and electronic medical record keeping.
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Document telemetry snippets in GE Airstrip every four hours.
- Document each monitored patient’s rhythm interpretation and measure heart rate, PR, QRS, and QT intervals when applicable.
- Use the Telemetry Report Sheet to document each patient’s rhythm, including ectopic events and rhythm changes.
- Document each patient’s hourly rhythm and heart rate on the Telemetry Report Sheet.
- Notify nursing staff about loss of telemetry signal, weak batteries, and changes in a patient’s condition, including rhythm changes, ectopic events, and significant heart-rate changes.
- Use the Event Report Sheet to document notification of patient rhythms and ectopic changes to nursing staff.
- Document escalation calls using the chain of command for delays in response from nursing staff.
- Use the Emergency Intercom to communicate life-threatening rhythms and ectopic events to the nursing unit.
- Zero to two years of experience is preferred.
- Previous telemetry experience is preferred.
- Dysrhythmia course completion is preferred.
- CRAT (Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician) certification is preferred.
- CCT (Certified Cardiographic Technician) certification is preferred.
