  • At least 2 years of track engineering support experience in a premier racing series; NASCAR Cup Series-level competition is preferred.
  • Experience validating and correlating simulations across track, rig, and aerodynamic data.
  • Expertise with simulation and data-analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, Pi Toolbox, and MoTeC.
  • A strong foundation in tire-modeling adjustments, setup development, and system optimization.
  • Demonstrated success leading Driver-in-the-Loop or test sessions and integrating their results into competitive performance.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and logical or scientific reasoning to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly, stay organized, and manage tasks and projects systematically.
  • Ability to adapt to workplace changes and identify and correct safety conditions.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including clear, concise articulation of ideas.
  • Coordination skills to adjust actions in relation to others' activities.
  • Leadership and organizational abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams.
  • Passion for motorsports and a deep understanding of vehicle performance engineering.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Independently identify and deliver recurring, measurable performance gains for race teams.
  • Explore unconventional setup methodologies, vehicle behaviors, and testing strategies to pursue optimal performance.
  • Apply vehicle-dynamics understanding across simulation, rig testing, and on-track environments.
  • Correlate simulation, Driver-in-the-Loop, 7-Post, and track data so findings translate into real-world gains.
  • Define technical problems to investigate rather than only responding to existing requests.
  • Develop and maintain custom software tools, scripts, and workflows to accelerate performance discovery.
  • Use artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics to extract insights from large, complex datasets.
  • Apply Design of Experiments, Lap Time Simulation, and other simulation techniques in creative, forward-looking ways; advance the use of simulation and data analytics in race engineering.
  • Design, construct, and execute Driver-in-the-Loop test sessions, including setup definitions, test plans, and optimization strategies.
  • Lead engineering groups during Driver-in-the-Loop testing, providing technical direction and real-time decisions.
  • Translate Driver-in-the-Loop results into setup philosophies, development direction, and race-ready recommendations.
  • Correlate Driver-in-the-Loop and simulation activities with track behavior and competitive objectives.
  • Collaborate with 7-Post engineers to define test plans, Design of Experiments studies, and performance investigations.
  • Participate in 7-Post operations, including mechanical changeover of the test car when required.
  • Support rig testing using knowledge of suspension systems, damping, tires, and structural interactions.
  • Apply rig-testing findings to simulation and on-track performance.
  • Apply mechatronics principles, sensors, and data-acquisition systems to complex performance problems.
  • Conceptualize and help develop actuation methods or loading techniques to test components, systems, or full vehicles.
  • Direct small groups or individuals in experimental studies involving instrumentation and custom test setups.
  • Support shop-based and track-based experimental testing programs.
  • Provide high-level engineering support during select tests and race events, on-site or remotely.
  • Assist with race-car preparation, troubleshooting, and performance validation as needed.
  • Provide clear, actionable technical guidance under pressure.
  • Mentor younger engineers by developing their technical skills, engineering judgment, and professional habits.
  • Guide engineers in developing as race engineers and foster curiosity, accountability, technical rigor, and continuous improvement.

Desired Qualifications

  • NASCAR Cup Series-level competition experience.
