About the job

Requirements
  • A track record of shipping AI and machine learning solutions into production in China, with real systems, users, service-level objectives, incidents, and measured outcomes.
  • Deep working fluency in large language models and generative AI, agentic frameworks and orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation and vector search, machine learning operations and large language model operations, evaluation and observability, and cloud-native architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with China's AI ecosystem, including domestic foundation models and clouds such as Alibaba Cloud, Volcano Engine, Tencent Cloud, Baidu AI Cloud, and Huawei Cloud, plus credible experience with at least one international stack such as Azure AI, AWS, OpenAI, or Anthropic.
  • Practical command of China's data and AI regulatory regime, including PIPL, DSL, CSL, MLPS, generative AI filing, content labeling, and cross-border data transfer mechanisms.
  • Proven delivery experience inside a large matrixed multinational in China, including managing a dual reporting line, partnering with local IT, influencing global functions, and making decisions across headquarters and market boundaries.
  • Experience building and leading small senior technical teams, with the credibility to remain hands-on in architecture and code review.
  • Professional fluency in Mandarin and English.
Responsibilities
  • Own Philips China's AI agenda, deciding which use cases to build, the technology stack, standards, and production delivery speed; deliver shipped solutions with measured value.
  • Build and lead a small, senior, multidisciplinary AI team in China comprising AI and machine learning engineers, data scientists, AI solution architects, and an adoption lead.
  • Work with Health Systems, Personal Health, and China's commercial, supply chain, service, quality, and R&D functions to identify, size, sequence, and build AI use cases.
  • Run an intake-to-production pipeline covering triage, feasibility, build, evaluation, shipping, and measurement; end ineffective initiatives early.
  • Co-own outcomes with business sponsors, ensuring each solution has a named business owner, baseline, and agreed value measure before development.
  • Make global Philips AI assets and services usable in China where legally and technically feasible, including frontier models, the enterprise AI Hub, Azure and AWS AI services, Microsoft 365 Copilot, agentic patterns, evaluation tools, and SDKs.
  • Build solutions on suitable domestic AI models, cloud services, and hardware where the global stack cannot meet latency, data-residency, cost, language-quality, or channel-integration needs; select and justify vendors based on evidence.
  • Integrate AI with WeChat and WeCom official accounts and Mini Programs, DingTalk or Feishu workflows, and local CRM, service, and commerce systems.
  • Build a model-and-tool abstraction layer for gateway, routing, prompt and evaluation management, tracing, and cost control so use cases can run on global or domestic models without rewrites.
  • Partner with Philips China IT on infrastructure, identity, security, network, and application integration so AI solutions operate within the sanctioned local environment.
  • Share China's model evaluations, cost benchmarks, localization learnings, and regulatory practices with the global AI Center of Excellence; reuse global assets and document and build local equivalents when required.
  • Represent Philips China in global AI architecture, governance, and vendor decisions, ensuring China constraints are addressed upfront.
  • Build China's AI data foundation, including local lakehouse and feature capabilities, consented and classified data products, and controls for data that must remain in China or may lawfully leave, aligned with global data and analytics architecture.
  • Own practical AI compliance in China, including applicable data and AI laws, MLPS grading, generative AI filings and registration, content labeling, and cross-border personal-information transfer pathways.
  • Manage boundaries between general AI features and regulated medical functionality with Regulatory Affairs and Quality, including work approaching NMPA scope.

  • Within the first 12–18 months, operate a China AI compliance model covering use-case triage, data classification, required filing and labeling, and cross-border transfer pathways.
  • Within the first 12–18 months, hire and establish a productive lean China AI team with clear charters and a visible community of practice.
Desired Qualifications
