At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
As a member of a hardworking team of engineers and specialists, you will be responsible for the electrical design, manufacturing, and testing of Blue Ring—a spacecraft capable of supporting a variety of missions from medium Earth orbit to the cislunar region. The Blue Ring spacecraft provides unprecedented delta-V capabilities, enabling customers to maneuver payloads of more than 3,000 kg to a variety of Earth orbits. Additionally, Blue Ring offers end-to-end services, including hosting, transportation, refueling, data relay, logistics, and “in-space” edge computing capabilities.
As an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer, you will translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into operational steps and processes to produce fully functional hardware at scale. Responsibilities include supporting builds, translating engineering definitions into manufacturing work instructions, and developing/qualifying new technology. Successful candidates will lead DFMA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test, accelerating product development.
If you share our vision, thrive in a dynamic startup environment, excel on integrated cross-functional teams of diverse individuals, are experienced and skilled in several relevant technologies (even if perhaps not in the aerospace industry), continuously seek out opportunities to learn and improve, and do not allow title or job description to limit the depth or breadth of your contributions, then we would love to hear from you.

- Relocation provided
- Travel expected up to 10% of the time
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the manufacturing floor in assembly and installation, ensuring compliance with engineering requirements, discrepancy resolution, and component acceptance testing.
- Perform in a hands-on engineering role and serve as a liaison between elements of design, test, manufacturing, and operations.
- Disposition and investigate root causes of discrepancies; implement preventative/corrective actions.
- Create in-build redlines and recommend engineering changes to improve design.
- Support the development of analog and digital boards that interact with avionics systems through operational gated reviews by evaluating and aiding in required artifact development.
- Drive Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA), evaluate avionics embedded controller hardware (boards and integrated assemblies) across the product life cycle, and drive continuous improvements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Successful Candidates typically have 7+ years of experience (5+ years with Masters) in design, development, and test.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- Direct hands-on experience with complex commercial or aerospace electronic assemblies (designing custom cards or integrating COTS hardware).
- Direct hands-on experience with analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit analysis, simulation, design, test, debug, signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles.
- Familiar with the design, development, and verification of complex computational devices (combinational and sequential logic) to monitor sensors and control actuators.
- Highly organized team player with excellent technical communication skills (written and verbal) and exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Experience in transitioning products from design development into manufacturing and production.
- Strong coordination and project management skills to track, manage, and prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks.
- Excellent computer skills with the ability to quickly learn and use various software tools as needed.

- Demonstrated expertise in designing high-reliability, safety-critical, J-STD-001, Class 3, Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA); familiarity with IPC-610, IPC-6012, GEIA-STD-0002-1A, and NASA-STD-8739 (or similar) industry standards.
- Experience creating and revising Electrical Component Management Plan (ECMP) or Parts Management Plan (PMP) documents to support program execution and alignment with Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition strategy.
- Proficiency using Altium/Cadence OrCAD/Allegro (or similar tools) to design complex aerospace boards, and experience working with external board manufacturing and assembly vendors.
- Proficiency with scripting, programming, and analysis/modeling tools: Python, Linux/Windows shell scripting, assembly language, C, C++; MATLAB/Simulink/SPICE (or similar).
- Exposure to analog and digital filters, signal conditioning, and signal processing using discrete components.
- Exposure to designing safety or mission-critical aerospace flight hardware compliant with DO-254 certification requirements.
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
