Requirements
  • The candidate must be an Occupational Therapy Assistant with a current license in the state of employment.
  • The candidate must have at least one year of experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in an acute care setting.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance in their name as a driver.
  • The candidate must be capable of meeting all physical demands of the role.
Responsibilities
  • Provide home-based skilled occupational therapy services as ordered by the attending physician and according to the Occupational Therapist's order sets and goals.
  • Participate in an interdisciplinary team focused on patient care and positive clinical outcomes.
  • Interact with patients' families while providing care throughout the patient's recovery.
  • Educate patients and family members and ensure patient safety.
  • Complete accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency protocols and Medicare and federal guidelines.
  • Provide skilled occupational therapy as ordered by the attending physician, observe and monitor patient conditions, and notify the Occupational Therapist of changes.
  • Assess functional problems and provide interventions to improve patient functional status in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist.
  • Counsel patients and families about disease or injury management throughout all phases of occupational therapy.
  • Instruct patients and family members in the proper use of wheelchairs, braces, walkers, crutches, canes, and other prosthetic or orthotic devices.
  • Follow agency policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Communicate schedule and availability changes to schedulers or supervisors.
  • Attend in-service training and mandatory agency meetings.
