About the Job

Requirements

  • The candidate must possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E. Hons).
  • The candidate must have at least 7 years of engineering design experience with various static equipment for onshore or offshore applications.
  • The candidate should have 1 to 2 years of site or fabrication experience.
  • The candidate should be able to apply relevant design codes, industry standards, and practices, including API, ISO, and ASME, and interpret their requirements for project needs.

  • The candidate should understand client specifications, such as PTS and DEP, and meet contractual requirements.
  • The candidate should review ITB, client, and contractual documents and raise clarifications about ambiguities, unclear definitions, missing references, or areas of doubt.
  • The candidate should understand static equipment applications for onshore and offshore oil, gas, and refinery industries and select appropriate equipment for process-service applications.
  • The candidate should understand materials for different services, including wet CO2, sour, low-temperature, and toxic services, and review vendor-proposed materials against material grades selected from process inputs, material-selection reports, and corrosion studies.
  • The candidate should be able to review vendor data against codes, standards, local regulations, project requirements, and discipline requirements.
  • The candidate should be able to interface with piping/stress, process, civil, electrical, structural, and instrumentation disciplines and resolve interface conflicts.
  • The candidate should understand equipment fabrication processes and critical elements or paths that influence delivery, and identify ways to improve vendor-equipment delivery schedules.
  • The candidate should be able to carry out technical audits when requested by the Department Manager; for Senior Engineers, the posting specifies more than 10 years of experience for this duty.

  • Review client specifications and project documents, and raise clarifications about ambiguous or incomplete requirements.
  • Review vendor equipment options, limitations, and deviations, and prepare technical bid evaluations or technical bid tabulations.
  • Review in-house and vendor P&IDs and identify equipment interfaces.
  • Witness vendor factory acceptance tests and shop testing, review test reports, and comment on findings.
  • Resolve issues arising from equipment testing, including failures, deficiencies, underperformance, and discrepancies.
  • Respond to site technical queries about equipment design, installation, mechanical completion, and field acceptance.
  • Identify cost-saving and energy-efficiency options during project execution or proposal work when requested and available.
  • Participate in equipment and project HAZOPs and close out resulting action items.
  • Prepare calculation spreadsheets, technical data sheets, job and equipment specifications, material requisitions, technical clarifications, technical bid evaluations and tabulations, and equipment-selection studies and reports.
  • Provide input to other disciplines’ deliverables, including layout and utility requirements, weight data, foundation loading, equipment interfaces, and equipment lists.
  • Prepare compressor aerodynamics and thermodynamics studies and summaries, and contribute to driver selection and derating.
  • Conduct vendor data review and meetings, support vendors when needed to shorten review duration, and help achieve project progress.
  • When assigned as Lead Engineer, monitor progress, coordinate and plan resources, and execute work to meet project objectives and values.
