Requirements
- An Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
- Navisworks experience, including model integration and clash checks, is required.
- Experience with AutoCAD 2D and 3D and Plant 3D, including specification generation, modeling, isometric generation, customer parts drawings, and bills of materials, is required.
- Experience with AutoCAD Inventor and Vault is required.
- Proven experience with piping, ductwork, pressure-part, or equivalent design, including overall layouts and details, is required.
- Proven experience generating piping layouts, pipe isometric drawings, and pipe support details is required.
- Strong analytical and computer skills are required.
- The candidate must be organized and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- The candidate must be able to travel domestically and internationally when required.
Responsibilities
- Produce and check computer-aided design drawings of design items, parts, components, complex equipment, assemblies, steel frames, connections, piping, and pressure parts using basic engineering principles and current manufacturing or fabrication methods.
- Provide general direction to designers, drafters, and outsourced work products.
- Review drawings in process for design integrity and cost effectiveness while considering fabrication and construction requirements.
- Communicate with fabricators, vendors, construction personnel, and other internal or external groups as required.
- Prepare two-dimensional drawings and three-dimensional models for new and edited designs.
- Prepare accurate and cost-effective designs, arrangements, layouts, and studies in accordance with company and industry standards and practices.
- Ensure drawings, bills of materials, and designs meet applicable codes, standards, ISO instructions, and customer specifications.
- Monitor vendor work products, including schedules, budgets, scope requirements, technical reviews, and deliverables.
- Review and analyze customer specifications and documents to ensure design compliance.
- Participate in meetings with customers, engineering consultants, and affiliated company units.
- Assume the lead mechanical role in proposal and contract design and develop drawings in response to customer requests.
- Track hours and provide feedback to the team and manager on project expenditures.
- Meet periodically with managers and other design leads to discuss team performance, new design concepts, productivity enhancements, and additional resource needs.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced group members.
