About the Job

Requirements

  • Hold an M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Complete a hospital-affiliated pediatric residency program accredited by the ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada; other residency-program accreditation may be considered through the credentialing-policy waiver process.
  • Be certified in the primary area of practice by the applicable ABMS, AOA, or Royal College specialty or subspecialty board. Applicants who completed residency within the last five years may apply without current board certification but must obtain certification within five years of residency completion unless the governing board waives the requirement.
  • For applicants applying directly from residency, provide a residency log.
  • For applicants not applying directly from residency, provide a hospital quality profile showing clinical activity for the past 12 months, including procedure counts, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications, and demonstrate at least 50 pediatric patients in that period.
  • If a hospital quality profile is unavailable, provide documentation of clinical-setting activity for the past 12 months and demonstrate at least 50 pediatric patients in clinical practice during that period.

Responsibilities

  • Admit patients when applicable to the setting; evaluate, diagnose, treat, and consult on the physical, emotional, and social health of patients from birth through age 21, including acute and chronic disease and major complicated illnesses.
  • Provide care to patients in an intensive care setting when applicable and consistent with unit policies.
  • Assess and stabilize patients with emergent conditions and determine their disposition, consistent with medical staff policy on emergency and consultative call services.

About the Company

Sanford Health

Nonprofit health system operating hospitals

Sanford Health is a large nonprofit health system that delivers hospital care, elder and post-acute services, and related health care through a network of hospitals, clinics, and senior care facilities across the Midwest. It operates by integrating multiple care settings into one system, supported by research and global health initiatives. Its model combines acute hospital care, long-term care, and post-acute services under a single organization, with a strong emphasis on philanthropy and mergers to expand reach and capabilities. The company differentiates itself through its breadth of services across the care continuum, extensive rural and regional presence, and a history of strategic mergers that create a full-spectrum care model rather than focusing on a single niche. Sanford Health’s goal is to provide comprehensive, accessible health care to communities, advance pediatric care and medical research, and extend health services through global clinics and partnerships.
