Third Wave Automation

Third Wave Automation

View

Third Wave Automation creates intelligent automation for warehouses. It develops autonomous high-reach forklifts (TWA Reach and TWA Extended Reach) and a Shared Autonomy Platform that lets AI-powered systems and human operators work together. The forklifts operate in four modes—fully autonomous, remote operation, remote assistance, and traditional manual—so they can fit into existing warehouse workflows without costly changes. The Armada Fleet Management System lets a single remote operator monitor and control multiple forklifts. The company licenses software via subscriptions and offers Robots-as-a-Service to avoid large upfront costs. By combining AI, machine learning, and flexible deployment, its goal is to boost warehouse throughput, efficiency, and safety while keeping human workers off the floor and out of hazardous areas.

What believers are saying

  • Raymond distribution expands access to installed-base customers and faster rollouts.
  • AI fleet visibility improves utilization, energy tracking, and cycle-time optimization.
  • RaaS and monthly opex lower buyer upfront capital barriers.

What critics are saying

  • Raymond can bundle similar automation and control customer access.
  • Teleoperation failures can halt multiple forklifts and create safety liabilities.
  • Manufacturing scale remains a bottleneck after the October 2024 Series C.

What makes Third Wave Automation unique

  • Shared autonomy lets one operator manage up to ten forklifts.
  • Four operating modes fit brownfield warehouses without major infrastructure changes.
  • Raymond partnership embeds Third Wave inside a trusted Toyota ecosystem.
