Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required.
  • At least 3 years of relevant administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, spreadsheet applications, and database applications is required.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • The ability to work with a range of personalities and develop strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Google Calendar is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level administrative, operational, and strategic support to the Chair.
  • Support the effective functioning of the department across teaching, research, service, and administrative domains.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the Chair and faculty, staff, students, college administration, central university offices, and external partners.
  • Coordinate the administrative and organizational functions of the Chair's research team, departmental research facilities, and external research partnerships.
  • Manage the operating budget and keep the Department Chair informed about available funding and potential issues associated with the role.
  • Evaluate department policies and processes and recommend improvements to streamline operations.
  • Hire, train and develop, manage performance for, and delegate work to student workers.

New York University (NYU) and KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) formed a cross-continental partnership in 2022 to boost research, education, and industry collaboration. The collaboration combines NYU’s and KAIST’s strengths to create joint programs and a shared presence in New York City. It brings together more than 200 faculty from both institutions to pursue joint research and education initiatives, including dual-degree programs at undergraduate and graduate levels and study-away and exchange opportunities. Unlike typical single-country collaborations, this partnership connects U.S. and Korean academic ecosystems to tackle global challenges, expand cross-border innovation, and attract industrial investments. The goal is to build a durable ecosystem that accelerates discovery, entrepreneurship, and the translation of research into real-world impact through academic programs, collaborations, and a broader joint presence in New York.
