The Opportunity:
The WSU College of Nursing’s main campus is located on the vibrant Health Sciences campus in Spokane, WA, just 75 miles north of WSU’s main campus in Pullman. We offer BSN, RN-BSN, MN, DNP, and PhD programs across four regional locations—Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, and Yakima—educating approximately 850 undergraduate and graduate nursing students each year. Our regional campuses are non-residential, and students enjoy living in the surrounding communities, which offer a variety of housing options, cultural experiences, and outdoor activities.
We are seeking an experienced leader to direct the Center for Student Excellence—the hub for student recruitment, admissions, progression, retention, and success. The Director will report to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and lead a team of five direct reports and one in-direct reports located across our campuses, ensuring high-quality student services for all programs. This position is in-person and the incumbent must be willing to work from our Spokane campus.

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime exempt.
Monthly Salary: $5,485.73 - $8,402.20 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment. Positions may require applicable licensure and/or certification.
Additional Requirements:
Previous work experience at an institute of higher education.
Demonstrated excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with experience collaborating effectively across teams and with external partners.
Knowledge of compliance with federal and state regulations related to student services (e.g., FERPA).
Demonstrated experience using student information systems (e.g.,
CAS, Slate, PeopleSoft) for data analysis and reporting.
Supervisor experience managing full-time or part-time (non-student) employees, including training, performance evaluations, and professional development.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing or assisting with leadership of a unitor program, including responsibility for directing operations and managing resource allocation OR experience in a leadership role with delegated authority to make operational commitments and manage resource allocation.
Must be able to travel for recruitment purposes including overnight and work occasional evenings and weekends.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related field.
Experience providing academic advising and/or counseling to students.
Demonstrated experience interpreting, applying, and developing rules, policies and procedures.
Supervisor experience managing a team of three (3) or more full-time or part-time (non-student) employees.
Experience with scholarship awarding processes and financial aid coordination.
Experience managing multi-campus or geographically dispersed teams.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience managing a student services unit in higher education, including supervising full- or part-time staff and implementing student-related policies and procedures.
