Washington State University (WSU) Prosser Irrigated Agriculture Research & Extension Center has an opening for a Personnel/Payroll Specialist (Fiscal Specialist 1). The Personnel/Payroll Specialist will perform a variety of complex personnel and payroll related tasks in support of Administrative Services at the WSU Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center (IAREC) in Prosser, WA. Responsibilities include coordinating all recruitment, onboarding activities, work-related issues, and International visas. This position will work closely with Prosser IAREC administration, staff, faculty, and Human Resource Services to proactively identify issues and provide effective solutions. The Personnel/Payroll Specialist will also review, develop, and maintain accurate records, maintain electronic and paper files, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Three years of fiscal record keeping experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Demonstrated excellent customer service, organizational, and time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use complex, online financial and/or administrative systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with confidential data.
Payroll experience.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Experience in higher education, local or state agency, or equivalent.
Knowledge ofWSUBusiness Policies and Procedures.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3,477 to $4,632 | Range 40, Steps A-M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
