About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Over 3 years of experience with acoustic measurement systems such as HATS, Audio Precision, and Listen SoundCheck, including work with anechoic chambers.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python for acoustic data processing and analysis.
  • Experience tuning render system algorithms for consumer electronics, including critical listening and subjective evaluation.
  • Understanding of electroacoustic principles, including speaker Thiele-Small parameters and frequency response interpretation.
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing fundamentals, such as biquad filters and frequency domain analysis.
  • Lab discipline, including adherence to standard operating procedures and thorough documentation practices.
  • Experience reporting technical findings to engineering stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct acoustic measurements on speaker systems using HATS, SoundCheck, and Audio Precision to assess frequency response, distortion, and power characterization.
  • Execute render tuning workflows, including equalizer design, speaker protection, and distortion control, using company-provided toolchains.
  • Run power simulations to verify compliance with power budgets across operating conditions.
  • Perform objective and subjective verification protocols and report deviations from defined key performance indicator acceptance criteria within 24 hours.
  • Adjust tuning parameters based on key performance indicator assessments and subjective evaluations to optimize audio performance.
  • Assess how industrial-design-driven mechanical changes, including speaker cavity and port placement, affect render performance.
  • Create and validate measurement data for structured programs, generate standardized performance reports, and prepare manufacturing handoff.
  • Troubleshoot render pipeline issues and escalate software-related problems to the appropriate engineering teams.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and agentic workflows to enhance tuning processes.
  • A master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience with wearable or open-ear speaker systems.
  • Expertise in render system models or simulation-based design, including COMSOL acoustic simulations.
  • Understanding of ADB and Android audio stack nuances.
  • Insight into speaker protection algorithms and distortion control methods, such as multi-band dynamic range compression.
  • Familiarity with telecommunication audio standards and Voice over Internet Protocol quality metrics.
