Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship is required for consideration and the candidate must meet Federal Contractor employee requirements.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field is required; ABET accreditation is preferred, and equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • The role requires electrical engineering experience with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Two to five years of manufacturing or mechanical engineering experience is specified for Manufacturing Engineer II.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability principles, electrical design fundamentals, low-voltage and high-voltage circuits, control systems, and power distribution is required.
  • Knowledge of electrical wiring or harnessing production and installation within industrial equipment and electrical cabinets is required.
  • Knowledge of tooling and fixture design, raw material and component selection, fabrication methods, and production cost considerations is required.
  • The candidate must be able to interpret and create precision technical drawings and digital models.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical or an equivalent computer-aided design tool, including modeling, drawing release, and file management, is required.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning systems, change control processes, standard manufacturing documentation, revision control, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving methods is required.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, and soldering tools, as well as test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes, is required.
  • Knowledge or training in IPC/WHMA-A-620 or an equivalent standard is required.
  • A valid driver's license in good standing is required.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate effectively between Engineering and Production teams.
  • The candidate must be able to stand and sit for extended periods, perform occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and operate office and manufacturing equipment with manual dexterity.
  • The candidate must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally, speak and hear, and meet close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth-perception requirements.
  • The candidate must be able to work in office, shop, vehicle-based, and exterior environments and work safely around energized systems when required.
  • Personal protective equipment is required in production and testing areas.
Responsibilities
  • Review designs for manufacturability during digital design and physical construction.
  • Use SolidWorks Electrical to create and edit designs for final production.
  • Advise Engineering on consistent documentation for Design for Manufacturability.
  • Bridge mechanical design and electrical or information technology requirements by identifying and mitigating issues early, managing major concerns before design freeze, and ensuring wiring, pass-throughs, interfaces, bulkheads, waterproofing, and information technology infrastructure needs are incorporated before mid-build integration.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering on wiring pass-throughs, wire routing, interfaces, bulkheads, and waterproofing required by Electrical Engineering designs.
  • Develop and maintain standard work documentation.
  • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Train Production personnel on standard manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot production build issues and clarify engineering intent.
  • Create and maintain fixture and tooling designs using hand tools and manual or computer numerical control shop machinery.
  • Conduct testing and validation and formally document the results.
  • Analyze Change Requests and Change Orders and assess their impact on schedules and costs.
  • Serve as a liaison between Engineering and Production.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, efficiency, and standardization.
  • Independently perform Design for Manufacturability reviews for small to mid-sized assemblies.
  • Design and implement moderate-complexity tooling and fixtures.
  • Prepare impact summaries for Change Requests for approval.
  • Support production troubleshooting with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct and document formal test setups and validation procedures.
  • Improve manufacturing documentation clarity and standardization.
  • Estimate engineering effort and manage assigned priorities.
  • Travel as needed by management and on occasion.
  • Uphold and model Nomad Core Values.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
