More than 1,500 people contribute to Plymouth City Living vision. 10 August 2026 More than 1,500 people have helped shape the future vision for Plymouth city centre so far through the Plymouth City Living engagement programme, one of the largest and most ambitious engagement exercises ever undertaken to support a city centre development framework and masterplan in Plymouth. Led by Plymouth City Council in partnership with Homes England, WSP and the UK Government, the programme has brought together residents, businesses, community organisations and young people from across the city to share their ideas, aspirations and priorities for Plymouth's future. Over the past several months, more than 700 conversations have taken place at city centre and neighbourhood drop-in events, over 600 children and young people have contributed through Mission Mammoth STEAMFest and related activities, and hundreds more people have shared their views online and through direct feedback channels. Feedback has covered a wide range of topics, including housing, public spaces, transport, sustainability, culture, heritage, economic growth and community wellbeing, helping to build a strong evidence base for the emerging Development Framework and Masterplan. Councillor Matt Smith, Cabinet Member for City Centre Regeneration and Events, said: "I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to share their views so far. The response Plymouth Net Zero Partnership has received has been fantastic and demonstrates just how much people care about the future of its city centre. "Plymouth Net Zero Partnership has heard a huge range of ideas, ambitions and challenges from residents, businesses, community organisations and young people. That feedback is incredibly valuable and will play a central role in shaping the emerging vision for Plymouth's future. "This is about creating a city centre that works for current and future generations, and we're committed to ensuring local people can see how their views have influenced the proposals as the project progresses." Over the summer Plymouth Net Zero Partnership will continue having conversations, including through community advocates. The advocates, drawn from community groups, local organisations and trusted networks across the city, are helping ensure that people who may not have been able to attend public events still have an opportunity to contribute their views. Anyone local group or organisation wishing to provide additional feedback before the Community Advocate process concludes can contact the project team on [email protected]. The project team will then begin a detailed review of all feedback received before refining the emerging Development Framework and Masterplan. A summary of what was heard during the engagement process, and how feedback has helped shape the proposals, will be published ahead of the next phase of consultation. The draft Plymouth City Living Development Framework and Masterplan is expected to be published for public consultation in autumn 2026. During this consultation, Plymouth Net Zero Partnership will be speaking to all wards across the city. Notes to editors The Plymouth City Living project is being delivered by Plymouth City Council in partnership with Homes England and the UK Government. The project is preparing a long-term Development Framework and Masterplan for Plymouth city centre, providing a strategic vision to guide future investment, regeneration and growth over the next 25 years. The project aims to support the delivery of new homes, vibrant public spaces, sustainable growth, improved connectivity and a thriving city centre that benefits existing and future communities.

She joined WSP in Toronto in 2024 in her EVP role, where she led a team of nearly 4,000 and a national project portfolio. Arcadis rejects second WSP bid worth £3.7bn. Consultant insists rivals' offer still undervalues company Arcadis has rebuffed a second bid from rival WSP, which valued the Dutch firm at €4.4bn (£3.7bn), The firm, which is listed on the Dutch Stock Exchange, Euronext Amsterdam, said its executive board and supervisory board had unanimously rejected a €51.50 (£44.12) per share offer. The proposal, which Arcadis described as "unsolicited, conditional, and non-binding", came after a previous bid worth €48.50 (£41.5) per ordinary share. Arcadis said the boards' financial and legal advisers had assessed that WSP's latest offer "continues to fundamentally undervalue Arcadis' intrinsic value, strategic position, and future prospects" and that, "accordingly, it is not in the best interest of the company's shareholders, employees, clients and other stakeholders". As well as contending that the offer fundamentally undervalued the business, it noted the large stock component, with roughly half of the consideration consisting of WSP shares. "This meaningful stock component represents a materially different risk profile to our shareholders compared to a standalone Arcadis investment, including significantly higher than anticipated leverage and lower than expected dividend yield," it said. It also said the revised proposal entailed "material uncertainty regarding deal execution and timing, execution of strategic plans, cultural fit, and integration risks", noting potential adverse consequences for Arcadis' shareholders, employees, clients and other stakeholders. 23 March 2026 Heather Polinsky, CEO of Arcadis, said: "Our H1 2026 performance demonstrates that our growth trajectory is moving in the right direction. With a record backlog and clear momentum in our key markets, we are confident that our standalone strategy is the most effective path to creating value for our shareholders and stakeholders as we deliver on our stated medium-term financial targets." Founded in 1888, Arcadis has around 34,000 employees worldwide with just over 4,000 based in the UK with the firm's head office at 80 Fenchurch Street. Last year it had revenue of €4.9bn (£4.2bn). Arcadis bought EC Harris in 2011 and three years later bought Hyder for around £300m. WSP is headquartered in Montreal, Canada, and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. It employs around 75,000 people and last year had a revenue of CA$18.3bn (£9.8bn). It has 10,000 employees in the UK and Ireland. No comments yet. You're not signed in.
