  • At least 5 years of Registered Nurse experience in a relevant acute care clinical setting is preferred.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is required.
  • A Master of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.
  • A New York Registered Nurse license and registration are required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required if applicable.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification is required if applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction for the unit in the absence of the Nurse Manager and serve as a liaison among physicians, patients, and families.
  • Aid in orienting and mentoring new employees and maintain existing employees' readiness to respond to patient emergencies.
  • Coordinate assignments according to patients' acuity and the appropriate standard of care, and organize teams based on Novice to Expert theory.
  • Participate in staff development and training while serving as a mentor and resource person.
  • Maintain clinical competency while managing a clinical assignment.
  • Maintain responsibility for the health and safety of patients and employees.
  • Participate with the Nurse Manager in completing performance evaluations, resolving personnel problems, counseling employees, improving patient experience, and preparing for regulatory agency inspections.
