Requirements
  • A master's degree or equivalent in the subject matter.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Successful completion of a complete Department of Corrections background check.
  • Attendance at a three-hour Volunteer, Intern and Professional Partner training on safety and security.
  • Authorization to work full-time in the United States.
  • Proof of eligibility to work under the Immigration Reform and Control Act.
  • Successful completion of employment background screening, including employer verification, reference checks, criminal history checks, and, when applicable, credit or driving history checks.
Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved course descriptions, class schedules, and institutional standards.
  • Evaluate and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Provide student support, mentoring, and academic advising.
  • Develop curriculum and periodically review and update instructional materials.
  • Be available at reasonable times to confer with students outside of class.
  • Maintain accurate student records.
  • Teach up to eight credits per semester within the Connecticut State Community College system.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • One or more years of teaching-related college-level courses, defined as 24 or more credits.
  • Experience using technology to enhance the learning environment, including Blackboard, online instruction, or other modalities and software.
