Requirements
  • 4-year degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of Purchasing, Sourcing, Engineering or Supply Chain

Responsibilities
  • Develop, document, and communicate product category sourcing strategies and action plans that are aligned to the organization’s business objectives and based on a strong understanding of the categories assigned.
  • Develop the capability to obtain the lowest possible long-term cost through negotiations, competitive bidding, and market and supplier knowledge. Actively seek and recommend productivity improvement opportunities based on new sources, product substitutions, or improved processes.
  • Work collaboratively with Product Management, Sales, and Purchasing in sourcing new products and selection of new suppliers to support new growth initiatives.
  • Manage the supplier selection process thru RFQ’s, agreements and 3rd party contracting.
  • Negotiate supply contracts that meet the business needs including terms, pricing, volume agreements, inventory management strategies, competitive benchmarks, performance, and annual cost improvements in TCO.
  • Work cross functional with team members to develop and manage supplier relationships to obtain the best value in terms of cost, service, quality, and innovation. Monitors and manages supplier performance using clearly defined objectives and metrics.
  • Work closely with the Product Management Team to support the development of Category Strategies and the total offering.
  • Champion the risk analysis of assigned products, the assessment and mitigation plans that minimize disruptions to the customer. This includes primary and secondary suppliers as needed, monitoring, and managing material supply to protect against short term disruptions, understanding supply base capacity to meet our demands (short and longer term) and negotiating inventory programs where applicable.
  • Leverage the Grainger Global Sourcing (GGS) team and relationship to maximize leverage for cost and service. This also includes product qualification leverage and resources.
  • Work cross functionally with the Technical Product Support (TPS) team for product support and cross-referencing.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree, Project Management, and Six-Sigma methodologies
  • 5-7 years of Sourcing, Purchasing, and or Project Management
  • Experience in international travel a plus
