About the job

Requirements
  • Have 4 or more years of experience in operations, strategy and operations, consulting, chief of staff, or a similar high-ownership role, ideally at a high-growth startup or in a setting where you built systems rather than inherited them.
  • Be based in Austin, Texas; the role is in-person.
  • Build models from messy data, design and interpret experiments, and translate numbers into decisions.
  • Produce clear, logically sound materials suitable for partner executives, with clear written and visual communication.
  • Build reusable frameworks and standards in unstructured environments.
  • Work effectively across engineering, product, sales, and operations, translating between technical and non-technical stakeholders and executing without formal authority.
Responsibilities
  • Run experiments, deep-dive analyses, and strategic sprints with partners to increase enrollment and revenue across the partner portfolio; own the process from hypothesis through recommendation and implementation, and co-develop strategy with partner teams.
  • Design and execute structured research programs, including conjoint analyses, MaxDiff studies, survey experiments, and in-flow tests, to inform plan design, messaging, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Turn partner learnings into repeatable frameworks and playbooks for future partner launches.
  • Design metrics, dashboards, and reporting to provide real-time visibility into partner health, funnel performance, and portfolio-level key performance indicators; help transition from spreadsheets to data tooling.
  • Identify attractive verticals, shape pricing strategy, determine expansion opportunities, and develop repeatable operational playbooks.

About the company

Light provides an AI-native finance and accounting platform that replaces legacy ERP for hypergrowth companies. It handles multi-entity bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, expenses, payments, and consolidated reporting on a ledger built for very large data volumes, all in one system. The product works by offering cloud-based accounting across multiple entities, with an integrated ledger and processes for spending, invoicing, and payments, plus connections to infrastructure partners like JP Morgan, Adyen, and BDO to support banking and operations. This differentiates Light from competitors by focusing on AI-assisted, scalable ERP replacement tailored for fast-growing firms, enabling international expansion without long, multi-month ERP projects. Light’s goal is to streamline finance operations at scale, simplify international growth for its customers, and continue expanding its platform and engineering capacity to serve more companies.

Light Phone founders on screen addiction: 'If this isn't addiction, I don't know what is

Joe Hollier and Kaiwei Tang, founders of Light, have spent over a decade promoting simplified technology. After collaborating with figures like Kendrick Lamar and Pete Davidson, they believe mainstream attitudes are shifting towards their philosophy. The company recently announced a new flip phone designed to combat smartphone addiction. In a TechCrunch podcast interview, the founders discussed how the original Motorola Razr influenced their design and addressed the growing "attention activist" movement amongst Gen Z users pushing back against Big Tech. Light Phone is opening an SDK allowing users to build their own tools, avoiding traditional app stores. The founders argue this approach helps break what they describe as pocket-sized addiction. The interview explores Light's decade-long journey and why they believe anti-smartphone sentiment is accelerating.

Light replaces fragmented finance tools with one platform: Jonathan Sanders, CEO at Light.

Light is replacing fragmented finance stacks and traditional ERPs by bringing payments, accounting and reporting into one AI-native platform. Jonathan Sanders, CEO at Light, says this shift is only possible now because AI changes how software works, moving beyond fixed SaaS tools towards “organic” systems that learn, adapt and operate more like a team member inside the company.
