Requirements
- Completed post-secondary education or be about to graduate.
- Have studied and excelled in a variety of subjects, such as mathematics, English, sciences, arts, business, history, humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences.
- Type at 60 or more words per minute.
- Be comfortable in an academic environment.
- Be sensitive to the needs of people with disabilities.
- Use a personal laptop.
- Have strong writing and editing skills.
- Be able to analyze and process information quickly.
- Work independently, arrive on time, be dependable, and meet deadlines.
- Provide a minimum of two professional references.
- Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate.
- Commit to a minimum of one academic semester.
- Be available for assignments scheduled between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
Responsibilities
- Type information on a laptop during university lectures or smaller classes such as tutorials and labs.
- Create verbatim transcriptions of instructors' speech using Messenger Pigeon for captioning assignments.
- Record key information from lectures as organized study aids, using key points and major topics as headings.
