Requirements
- No prior experience is needed; on-the-job training is provided.
- A minimum of 10th-grade education is required.
- Must possess an active 40-hour Nebraska Assisted Living Medication Aide License.
- Must keep the Medication Aide license active and complete yearly competency testing.
- Current CPR certification is required.
Responsibilities
- Pass medications in a sanitary manner according to facility policy and regulations governing the provision of medications by medication aides.
- Chart all medications accurately in the appropriate place.
- Provide medications following the fourteen competency standards.
- Assist residents with minimal care, including bathing, dressing, making beds, and ensuring residents get to the dining room.
- Treat residents with consideration, respect, and recognition of their dignity and individuality.
- Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice to assisted-living and independent-living residents.
- Complete training in body systems and drug effects, medical terminology, drug classifications, dosage, measurements and forms, medication storage and accountability, drug-therapy observations, and medication administration by oral, optic, ophthalmic, nasal, skin, and special routes.
