About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in ASIC/SoC RTL design is required.
  • Expert proficiency in SystemVerilog and Verilog RTL coding and micro-architecture design is required.
  • Strong understanding of timing, including setup/hold and static timing analysis correlation, CDC/RDC methodologies, reset strategies, clocking architectures, and low-power design using UPF/CPF is required.
  • Proven experience leading blocks through multiple tapeouts is required.
  • Hands-on experience with synthesis tools such as Design Compiler is required.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving ability is required.
  • Excellent communication across cross-functional teams is required.
  • Ownership and accountability for silicon success are required.
  • Ability to operate under tight tapeout schedules is required.
Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end RTL design for major subsystems or full-chip blocks.
  • Define micro-architecture aligned with power, performance, and area targets.
  • Lead and mentor a team of RTL engineers ranging from junior to senior individual contributors.
  • Drive design reviews, coding standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with design verification, physical design, static timing analysis, timing, and design-for-test teams.
  • Ensure high RTL quality through lint, CDC, and RDC checks and low-power UPF compliance.
  • Debug complex issues across RTL simulation, gate-level simulation, and silicon bring-up.
  • Work with foundry and backend constraints, including timing, congestion, and IR.
  • Drive schedule, risk mitigation, and execution toward tapeout.
  • As an individual contributor, provide technical direction and architectural clarity, mentor and grow team members, drive high engineering standards and design quality, influence cross-functional decisions, and balance hands-on work with leadership responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in advanced nodes such as 12FFC, 7nm, or 5nm.
  • Strong gate-level simulation expertise, including SDF, X-propagation, and power-aware simulations.
  • Knowledge of design-for-test, including scan, MBIST, and compression.
  • Experience with high-speed IPs such as DDR, PCIe, or SerDes, or with memory subsystems.
  • Scripting proficiency in Python or Tcl.
  • Prior collaboration with foundries such as TSMC.
  • Experience in startup environments or first-silicon efforts.
  • Exposure to packaging, including flip-chip, bump planning, and IO constraints.
  • Experience with low-frequency testchips or rapid prototyping.
  • Government clearance is preferred.

About the company

Bolt Graphics designs GPUs for rendering, high-performance computing, and gaming, aimed at professional workloads like visual effects, architecture visualization, scientific simulation, and render farms. Its Zeus architecture, announced in 2025, emphasizes hardware-accelerated path tracing and FP64 compute, rather than AI upscaling. The design includes a RISC-V processor, expandable DDR5 memory on PCIe cards and servers, built-in high-speed Ethernet for direct GPU-to-GPU connections, and dedicated acceleration for electromagnetic wave simulation, with plans for PCIe card, server, and cloud form factors. The company aims to deliver higher performance per watt for professional workloads and scalable deployments beyond traditional consumer GPUs.
