Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences or a related discipline is required.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Bioassay, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, quantitative polymerase chain reaction, proper laboratory documentation, and safe laboratory practices, including proven experience in method validation, transfer, and regulatory compliance in a good manufacturing practice environment.
  • Proficiency with SpectraMax and QuantStudio instruments.
  • Ability to follow and execute standard operating procedures, protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret data and communicate results clearly.
  • Knowledge of good documentation practices, data integrity principles, ALCOA+, quality standards, and global regulatory guidelines.
  • Experience with deviations, corrective and preventive action, change control, and related quality systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively on cross-functional teams, with analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities
  • Perform cell-based assays, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and quantitative polymerase chain reaction testing to support method qualification, in-process testing, release, and stability studies while maintaining accurate good manufacturing practice documentation.
  • Participate in the development, transfer, and validation of analytical and instrument-based test methods, including bioassay, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and quantitative polymerase chain reaction.
  • Author and review technical documents, including method validation and qualification protocols and reports, as well as regulatory filing documents as required by project needs.
  • Complete, review, and maintain quality control documentation, logbooks, and data records with accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare buffer solutions required for analytical procedures.
  • Manage inventory by monitoring stock levels and critical reagents, placing timely orders, and ensuring essential supplies remain available.
  • Support the development, revision, and adherence to standard operating procedures, protocols, and quality documentation.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve issues related to analytical techniques and instrumentation.
  • Maintain adherence to good manufacturing practice and quality standards, support regulatory inspections, and contribute to observation responses.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and robustness of bioassay testing.
Desired Qualifications
  • Preferred candidates have 5-7 years of experience with Bioassays and/or ELISA and at least 3-5 years in a regulated QC GMP laboratory environment.

Asahi Kasei unveils new wet-process separator coating line in North Carolina, advancing the company's 40-year North American Battery Separator strategy. 26 Aug 2026 Asahi Kasei held a grand opening ceremony on August 20 for its new Hipore(TM) wet-process lithium-ion battery separator coating line in Charlotte, North Carolina, marking a significant milestone in the execution of the company's North American battery separator strategy. The investment expands production capacity at the company's existing Celgard manufacturing facility, establishing North America-based coating and supply capabilities for its wet-process separator technology. The facility represents the first step toward establishing a regional supply structure for wet-process separators. The investment decision was made in 2023, and commercial production is scheduled to begin in the second half of fiscal 2026. The grand opening coincided with the 40th anniversary of the Celgard manufacturing facility in Charlotte, which has been producing dry-process separators in the United States since 1986. The ceremony brought together local government officials, representatives of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, which has entered into a capacity rights agreement related to the facility, and other stakeholders who supported the project's development. The investment comes as North American battery demand is expected to expand beyond electric vehicles, supported by the increasing deployment of energy storage systems. Although the separator market remains competitive, improving regional market conditions are creating opportunities for suppliers with localized production and responsive supply capabilities. "Opening the Charlotte coating line is a key milestone in establishing our North American supply platform for battery separators," said Ryu Taniguchi, President of Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Corporation. "By leveraging Celgard's experienced workforce and established operations, we are expanding our North American product portfolio to include both dry-process and Hipore(TM) wet-process technologies. Together with our planned separator facility in Canada, this investment will bring production capabilities closer to the region's battery market and position Asahi Kasei to swiftly respond as demand grows across electric vehicles and energy storage systems." Construction of Asahi Kasei's wet-process separator facility in Canada is also progressing according to plan. Together, the Charlotte coating line and the Canadian plant will establish a regional supply framework for wet-process separators, strengthening the company's manufacturing presence and market position in North America. The investments support Asahi Kasei's broader growth strategy for Energy & Infrastructure, which is designated as a Growth Potential area of business under the company's medium-term management plan. Celgard celebrates 15 years at Concord site, expands separator coating capability. 26 May 2026 Celgard has launched new coating capabilities at its Concord, North Carolina manufacturing facility as the lithium-ion battery separator manufacturer marked the site's 15th anniversary. The company said the expansion adds new "state-of-the-art" coating technology capable of producing functional coatings, multilayer coated separators (MCS) and other customised separator products for lithium-ion batteries. According to the company, its new capabilities support a range of coating patterns, thicknesses, coverage levels and multilayer structures, while remaining compatible with multiple base-film technologies. The company said this would enable the development of more tailored separator products for electric vehicles, stationary energy storage systems and next-generation battery applications. Celgard's second US manufacturing site. The Concord plant opened in 2011 as Celgard's second US manufacturing site and forms part of the company's North American manufacturing network. The announcement comes amid the separation of Celgard and lead-acid battery separator specialist Daramic following the sale of Daramic by parent company Asahi Kasei. Celgard describes itself as the original inventor of ceramic-coated separators (CCS), a technology widely used in lithium-ion batteries to improve thermal stability and safety performance.
