Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license.
  • Strong understanding of ambulatory clinical workflow processes and performance improvements supporting nursing and physician practice.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in and provide clinical input during the review, design, development and build, testing, validation, and implementation of ambulatory clinical information systems.
  • Support enhancement and end-user optimization of ambulatory clinical information systems using knowledge of clinical workflows, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform validation of changes, upgrades, and modifications to the integrated information system in coordination with IT and Informatics teams.
  • Coordinate planned and unplanned system downtimes and serve as a resource to ambulatory providers and clinical staff during critical-system downtime.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with ambulatory clinic leaders, staff, IT, and Informatics teams to ensure application changes meet organizational needs.
  • Maintain a visual presence by routinely rounding in assigned support areas and serving as a resource for ambulatory providers and clinical staff.
  • Receive, investigate, and resolve issues related to software, workflows, and processes.
  • Determine root causes of problems and failures in collaboration with ambulatory leadership, IT, and Informatics teams while following change-management processes.
  • Communicate system and process changes to operational leaders and stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Provide initial training on ambulatory clinical applications to new providers, staff, and super-users, as well as continuing education on applications, processes, workflows, and functionality.
  • Prepare education materials and provide at-the-elbow support and training on ambulatory electronic health record functionality and clinical workflows.
  • Lead or participate in interdisciplinary committees focused on IT solutions for improving ambulatory clinical processes.
  • Communicate committee follow-up actions to identified stakeholders.
  • Support process-improvement activities and IT-related patient-safety opportunities, including operational requests for IT changes, root cause analysis, failure mode and effects analysis, and The Joint Commission readiness assistance.
  • Use electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and the organizational intranet.
  • Comply with DCH Health System policies, procedures, behavioral standards, safety requirements, and assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of three years of medical practice experience.
  • Experience as an ambulatory clinical IT subject matter expert or super-user with certified electronic health record applications.
  • Previous participation in or leadership of a hospital committee.
  • Experience using Meditech or previous experience in clinical informatics.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
