Personally architected and shipped a data platform that powered a revenue product.
Deep, current expertise in a modern data stack, including BigQuery or Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran or Airbyte, an orchestrator such as Airflow or Dagster, and a BI layer such as Looker, Hex, or Metabase.
Track record of hiring and growing senior individual contributors in a small, high-trust environment.
Comfortable making product and commercial trade-offs and pushing back on commercial leadership when engineering reality requires it.
Bitcoin-literate or genuinely curious about Bitcoin as a monetary network, the Bitcoin treasury thesis, and the Lightning/x402 stack.
Responsibilities
Own the technical architecture of the data platform, including its warehouse, ingestion pipelines, identity resolution, and unified data model across the business.
Make early infrastructure decisions covering ETL tooling, dbt structure, the BI layer, orchestration, and data governance.
Sequence the platform buildout to deliver a working unified dataset within the first few months.
Define the technical relationship between the consumer app and data platform, including captured data, identity flow, enrichment, and information returned to users.
Partner with the app engineering team on the consumer surface and event credentialing.
Ensure event credentialing is production-grade and can support tens of thousands of users on day one.
Hire and develop the engineering team, prioritizing automation, simplification, and shipping before increasing headcount.
Establish engineering practices for code review, on-call, observability, technical writing, and a high individual-contributor bar.
Conduct technical interviews and set the bar for every engineering hire.
Set and enforce company-wide engineering standards, favoring shipped reference implementations over policy memos.
Own engineering standards from day one as the broader technology portfolio consolidates under the role.
Explain technical constraints to the leadership team and incorporate commercial constraints into engineering planning.
Establish SOC 2 readiness on a timeline that supports enterprise-grade commercial products.
Own GDPR, consent tiering, and right-to-erasure capability across the platform from day one.
Make vendor and tooling decisions that can withstand audits and scale.
Work with the existing technology team to architect and implement future IT infrastructure and steward technical philosophies across the organization.
Desired Qualifications
AI-native experience, experience building consumer mobile products or agent-facing APIs such as MCP or x402, or experience with research/intelligence data products at production scale.

The Role
We are seeking a product-minded Chief Technology Officer to architect and build the data platform that powers BTC Inc's next generation of products. You will lead the design and delivery of our core data infrastructure and consumer app architecture, own engineering standards across the company, and build the engineering organization behind them. You will report directly to the CEO and operate as a peer to product leadership, sharing one joint platform roadmap.
The ideal candidate has personally built, not just managed, a data platform that powers a revenue product. You are a senior IC at heart who has grown into leadership without losing your hands. You read an engineering plan and immediately want to redline it. You are wary of frameworks, transformation roadmaps, and any first-90-days plan that does not include shipping code. You have built or shepherded a modern data stack (BigQuery or Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, identity resolution, BI) and shipped data products that customers paid for. You are Bitcoin-literate or genuinely curious. You are comfortable being the first engineering hire and the last call on architecture.
The Work
Platform Architecture
Own the technical architecture of our data platform: warehouse, ingestion pipelines, identity resolution, and a unified data model across the business.
Make the early infrastructure calls: ETL tooling, dbt structure, BI layer, orchestration, and data governance posture.
Sequence the platform buildout to ship a working unified dataset within the first few months.
Consumer App & Data Connectivity
Define the technical relationship between our consumer app and our data platform: what gets captured, how identity flows, what gets enriched, and what flows back to the user.
Partner with the app engineering team (initially contractor, transitioning to FTE) on the consumer surface and event credentialing.
Ensure event credentialing is production-grade and survives tens of thousands of users on day one.
Engineering Leadership & Standards
Hire and develop the engineering team. Model constraint before headcount: automate, simplify, and ship before you hire.
Establish the engineering culture: code review, on-call, observability, technical writing, and a high IC bar.
Be the technical interviewer and bar-raiser on every engineering hire.
Set and enforce engineering standards company-wide, favoring shipped reference implementations over policy memos.
Own standards on day one; the broader technology portfolio consolidates under you as systems mature.
Surface technical constraints to the leadership team in plain language, and carry commercial constraints back into engineering planning.
Security, Compliance & Data Governance
Stand up SOC 2 readiness on a timeline that supports enterprise-grade commercial products.

Your Experience

Comfortable making product and commercial trade-offs, not just technical ones; able to push back on commercial leadership when the engineering reality requires it.
Bitcoin-literate, or genuinely curious about Bitcoin as a monetary network, the Bitcoin treasury thesis, and the Lightning/x402 stack.
Strongly preferred: AI native with experience building consumer mobile, agent-facing APIs (MCP, x402), or research/intelligence data products at production scale.
