About the company

Bild AI offers an AI-powered platform for blueprint analysis in the construction industry, focusing on code compliance and cost estimation through a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model. How it works: The platform analyzes project plans to detect compliance issues before submission, providing actionable feedback and budgeting estimates that streamline the permitting process. It is accessed via subscription, with AI-driven review tools that help architects, engineers, and construction firms review plans and generate reliable cost assessments. How it differs from competitors: It emphasizes automated pre-submission compliance checks combined with cost estimation and strong data security, targeting professionals who need faster approvals and more accurate budgets. Goal: To speed up project approvals, improve budgeting accuracy, and help clients win contracts by delivering quicker, clearer plan reviews.

What believers are saying

  • July 2025 funding from Khosla Ventures financed engineering hires and product expansion.
  • Early clients reportedly bid on ten times more projects using Bild AI.
  • June 2026 hiring signals active product buildout and stronger customer demand.

What critics are saying

  • Five-to-nine employees cannot defend against Autodesk, Procore, or Bluebeam bundling similar features.
  • Division 8 specialization leaves entire permitting, structural, and MEP workflows uncaptured.
  • Manual plan reviewers and local code consultants still control approvals, blocking software-only adoption.

What makes Bild AI unique

  • Bild AI trains construction-specific models on blueprint symbols, spatial relationships, and cross-sheet references.
  • Its May 2026 D8 model targets Division 8 doors-and-windows estimating directly.
  • February 2026 launch centered on compliance checks plus takeoffs, not generic document OCR.

Bild AI raises $3.1M for affordable housing

Construction startup Bild AI, founded by Roop Pal and Puneet Sukhija, raised $3.1 million in a seed round led by Khosla Ventures. The company aims to disrupt the construction industry by using AI to read blueprints and estimate materials and costs, a process traditionally done manually. Bild AI plans to use the funding to hire engineers and expand its technology. The startup's early clients include material suppliers for multifamily residences, and it generates revenue through subscription fees.
