Curtiss-Wright launches complex seating control platform for rehabilitation powerchairs.

Curtiss-Wright launches complex seating control platform for rehabilitation powerchairs. Curtiss-Wright has announced the launch of the R-net ISM2 system, a next-generation platform for complex seating control on medical mobility rehabilitation powerchairs. Designed to deliver sophisticated seating capability on modern, narrow-wheelbase powerchairs, the ISM2 family provides control of up to 14 actuators through a range of slimline 2-, 4- and six-channel modules. Its compact size gives manufacturers the flexibility to integrate advanced seating functions while protecting valuable chassis and seat space. Tom Walsh, Director of Product Management at Curtiss-Wrigh Industrial, said: "The R-net ISM2 gives powerchair manufacturers a future-ready seating architecture designed for speed, safety and flexibility. "It combines high actuator capacity, intelligent seating control and practical development tools that reduce complexity, helping OEMs create sophisticated, comfortable and reliable seating systems with greater confidence and efficiency." ISM2 provides precise control of complex multi-actuator seating movements across up to 25 axes, supporting customized up/down behaviour for each axis. Fine position control helps deliver smooth, predictable and comfortable seating motion, while up to eight clinician-defined memory positions can be accessed by the user and, where enabled through system programming, fine-tuned to individual preference. Real-world position information, such as angular position or linear actuator extension, can be displayed independently for each axis on compatible LCD-based input devices. Curtiss-Wright's Seat Architect design and simulation tool enables designers to construct, model and validate complex seating movements on screen before downloading a complete seating file to the powerchair. By replacing manual coding with a construct-and-simulate development approach, Seat Architect helps accelerate seating development and reduce iterative tuning. Each ISM2 input accepts rotanal, linear, tilt, voltage and digital sensors, providing OEMs with broad flexibility in position sensing. Compact external ISM2-TS tilt sensors can be mounted in six orientations, while every ISM2 module incorporates onboard tilt sensing. ISM2 also includes programmable angular limits, axis inhibits, seat condition logic and virtual inhibits to help prevent inappropriate seating movements, chassis or ground clashes, and to apply drive-speed restrictions or drive inhibits according to seat position. Granular diagnostics identify the specific channel or input associated with an error, helping technicians locate faults quickly. Emergency Mode enables a technician or carer to operate channels individually and return the user safely to a transfer position. The ISM2-2L module additionally integrates LED lighting control and offers a programmable brake-light output or external horn. Independently TÜV-certified, the R-net ISM2 is supported with a Master Access File for FDA 510(k) submissions and full MDR CE-mark documentation, helping streamline OEM regulatory submissions for global markets. The R-net ISM2 is a next-generation seating control platform that helps powerchair manufacturers deliver sophisticated, comfortable, and clinically appropriate seating solutions. With ultra-slimline modules controlling up to 14 actuators across as many as 25 axes, plus Seat Architect development tools, flexible sensing, programmable safety functions, memory positions, and detailed diagnostics, ISM2 gives OEMs a scalable, future-ready foundation for complex seating on modern narrow-wheelbase powerchairs. The R-net ISM2 system will be showcased by Curtiss-Wright Industrial at REHACARE 2026 from September 23 to 26, Hall 6, Stand F58. Curtiss-Wright Corporation is a global integrated business that provides highly engineered products, solutions and services mainly to the aerospace and the defence markets, as well as critical technologies in commercial power, process and industrial markets. Last year, the firm launched the BLS50 brushless motor controller for mobility scooters, which has been designed to deliver a new benchmark in mobility with its 'outstanding' gradient performance. Aimtron Electronics begins engagement with Curtiss-Wright for industrial and automotive applications!

Aimtron Electronics begins engagement with Curtiss-Wright for industrial and automotive applications! Tuesday 15 September 2026, 7:32:05 PM Aimtron Electronics Limited, an Indian Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) company, has entered into a business engagement with Curtiss-Wright, a U.S.-based global technology company serving industrial and automotive markets. As part of the initial engagement, Aimtron Electronics has received a pilot order from Curtiss-Wright, marking the beginning of a relationship that could develop into larger and longer-term programmes. The pilot order represents an important step in Aimtron's efforts to expand its customer base among global companies operating in technology-intensive and high-reliability industries. While the initial order is at the pilot stage, Aimtron said the relationship could create opportunities for additional programmes as customer qualification processes, programme approvals and future business requirements progress. For Aimtron Electronics, the engagement strengthens its strategy of building relationships with international customers that require specialised electronics manufacturing, engineering and system integration capabilities. The company is positioning itself as an engineering-led electronics manufacturing partner capable of supporting customers across multiple stages of the product lifecycle. Aimtron provides end-to-end capabilities covering electronics design, engineering, prototyping, manufacturing, system integration, testing and production support. Its ESDM and ODM capabilities allow it to participate in projects ranging from product development and engineering through to volume manufacturing and post-production requirements. The company's manufacturing approach focuses on complex electronic systems and assemblies for applications where quality, reliability and consistency are critical. This positioning is particularly relevant to industrial and automotive customers, where electronics increasingly play an important role in vehicle systems, automation, control systems and other technology-intensive applications. Curtiss-Wright operates across a broad range of industrial and automotive markets and develops engineered products, solutions and services for demanding applications. The company has approximately US$3.5 billion in annual revenue, around 9,100 employees and operations across more than 20 countries. Its portfolio includes technologies designed for high-performance applications where engineering expertise, product reliability and manufacturing quality are essential. The engagement with Aimtron therefore provides the Indian company with an opportunity to strengthen its participation in global supply chains serving demanding technology markets. The pilot order also demonstrates how Indian electronics manufacturers are increasingly seeking partnerships with international companies as global businesses diversify their supply chains and look for capable engineering and manufacturing partners. India's expanding electronics manufacturing ecosystem is creating opportunities for companies with integrated design, production, testing and system-level capabilities. Aimtron's ability to provide services across the product lifecycle could be particularly valuable for customers seeking to consolidate engineering and manufacturing activities with fewer suppliers. Its capabilities span design and prototyping through production, system integration and testing, enabling the company to support customers as products move from development into commercial manufacturing. The relationship with Curtiss-Wright is currently at an early stage, and any expansion will depend on customer qualification, programme approvals, commercial requirements and future demand. Nevertheless, the pilot order provides a foundation for Aimtron to pursue additional opportunities with Curtiss-Wright and potentially strengthen its role within the company's supplier ecosystem. The engagement comes as Aimtron continues to expand its presence in global industrial and automotive markets. By combining its Indian engineering and manufacturing capabilities with relationships with international technology companies, the company aims to build a broader global electronics manufacturing platform. The association with Curtiss-Wright marks another step in that strategy, giving Aimtron an opportunity to demonstrate its capabilities to a major international customer while supporting its longer-term ambitions in high-value, technology-driven electronics manufacturing.
