About the job

Requirements
  • Have at least 7 years of experience in Salesforce product management, business systems analysis, or Marketing/Revenue Operations technology roles, with demonstrated growth into product ownership.
  • Have strong working knowledge of Lead-to-Opportunity processes, including lead capture, scoring, routing, and conversion, and how they connect marketing execution to sales pipeline.
  • Have hands-on familiarity with Salesforce Sales Cloud and marketing automation platforms such as Marketo, HubSpot, or Pardot, lead scoring and routing tools, and data enrichment or intent providers.
  • Have a good understanding of the quoting process.
  • Have demonstrated ability to own and communicate multi-quarter internal product roadmaps to senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Have proven experience leading initiatives end-to-end with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities, especially across Marketing and Sales.
  • Have sufficient technical fluency to engage with engineering on API design, data model decisions, and integration trade-offs without needing to write code.
  • Have experience mentoring or upskilling analysts and BSAs.
  • Be able to communicate technical trade-offs to non-technical executives and translate business asks into clear technical requirements.
  • Be comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving structure where none exists.
Responsibilities
  • Define, own, and maintain the multi-quarter internal product roadmap for the Lead-to-Opportunity domain, covering lead capture, enrichment, scoring, routing, conversion, opportunity, and the broader GTM technology stack integrated with Salesforce.
  • Translate business strategy from Marketing, Sales Development, RevOps, and GTM leadership into sequenced, prioritized system capabilities with clear outcomes and success metrics.
  • Define domain strategic priorities each quarter and half, balancing new capability delivery, stabilization, and technical debt reduction with transparent trade-off frameworks.
  • Drive quarterly planning ceremonies, partnering with Engineering Managers and BSAs to align capacity with roadmap commitments.
  • Own domain documentation, including process maps, current- and future-state lead lifecycle flows, and decision logs that keep stakeholders and the team aligned on scope and ownership.
  • Serve as the primary product voice for Lead-to-Opportunity and GTM Systems initiatives, partnering with Marketing, Marketing Operations, SDR/BDR leadership, Sales, and RevOps.
  • Lead discovery, requirements workshops, and business process design sessions, translating complex GTM and marketing operations requirements into actionable system specifications.
  • Own the decision layer between business needs and engineering delivery, resolving ambiguity with structured frameworks and documented decisions.
  • Run structured stakeholder alignment sessions to surface trade-offs, build consensus, and drive open decisions to closure.
  • Represent the domain in cross-team planning and leadership reviews, explaining technical constraints to business stakeholders and business context to engineers.
  • Mentor the BSA team in product thinking, requirements structuring, acceptance criteria definition, and roadmap communication.
  • Create reusable templates, rituals such as backlog grooming and roadmap reviews, and a rubric for BSAs to develop against.
  • Give BSAs increasing ownership over roadmap components as they develop, with regular feedback and structured check-ins.
  • Partner with leadership to evolve the team's operating model from project-execution-focused to product-thinking-led.
  • Lead initiatives end-to-end, including discovery, requirements, prioritization, solution design review, user acceptance testing, launch, and post-launch measurement.
  • Write and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, and lead-flow and data-flow diagrams that engineering and administrators can build against without ambiguity.
  • Manage backlog intake requests from Marketing and Sales Development, triage by impact and effort, and defend prioritization decisions to stakeholders.
  • Define initiative success metrics, including lead response time, routing accuracy, lead-to-opportunity conversion rate, data quality, and SDR/BDR adoption, and report outcomes.
  • Identify and de-risk dependencies across campaign operations, data enrichment vendors, and opportunity handoff to sales before they block delivery.
  • Own user acceptance testing strategy and acceptance criteria in collaboration with BSAs, ensuring system changes meet business requirements before production release.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architects and Engineering Managers on Salesforce and MarTech integration design, including marketing automation platform-to-Salesforce sync, data enrichment pipelines, and lead scoring and routing engines, ensuring choices meet governance, scale, and future roadmap needs.
  • Bring informed opinions on GTM platform architecture trade-offs based on domain knowledge.
  • Stay current on roadmaps for Salesforce Sales Cloud and connected MarTech tools, identifying opportunities to use native capabilities before custom builds.
  • Maintain and update domain-level roles and responsibilities clarity across US/India technical managers, BSAs, and adjacent pods as the team and scope evolve.
  • Engage deeply with engineering and architecture teams on API design, data modeling, and integration patterns.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with AI-assisted development workflows, data governance and compliance for lead data, or prior people-management experience.

About the company

GitLab provides a unified DevOps platform that brings together the tools needed for software development, including code hosting, collaboration, CI/CD, issue tracking, and security, all in one application. It works by offering a single subscription-based platform where teams can plan, write, test, review, and deploy code through automated pipelines, reducing the need to manage separate tools. This differs from many competitors that require using a collection of separate products; GitLab consolidates these capabilities into one integrated solution, helping teams work more efficiently. The company's goal is to help organizations speed up software delivery and improve collaboration by simplifying the DevOps process and continuously updating the platform with new features and improvements.

GitLab is a software stock to watch, while Elastic and Wix underwhelm

SaaS stocks have gained 56.3% over the past six months, outpacing the S&P 500's 12% rise. Still, StockStory says AI is eating into the profits of software firms with low switching costs, so only the strongest will last. It favours GitLab (NASDAQ:GTLB), valued at $8.66 billion. Revenue grew 25.9% a year over two years, annual recurring revenue rose 23.3% in the last year, and gross margin is 85.9%. The stock trades at $50.42, or 7.8x forward price-to-sales. It is wary of two others. Elastic (NYSE:ESTC), worth $9.90 billion, posted billings growth of 14% and flat operating margin. Wix (NASDAQ:WIX), worth $3.00 billion, saw billings growth of 13.9% and a 17.5 percentage point drop in operating margin.

GitLab unveils governed software factory with AI agent orchestration and security controls

GitLab has announced new capabilities for what it calls a "governed software factory", aimed at helping organisations deploy AI-generated software whilst managing risk and cost. The platform now includes goal-driven workflows that automate progression across the software development lifecycle, reducing handoffs between stages. Key additions include GitLab Artifact Central, which centralises containers and packages alongside source code, and GitLab Dependency Firewall, which blocks malicious or non-compliant packages before they enter builds. GitLab Secrets Manager, now generally available, secures credentials in one location. The platform will integrate Anthropic's Claude Mythos 5 and 5.1 models for security workflows. New Impact Analytics tools show AI investment costs and outcomes by team and model. GitLab reports active users of agentic software development grew 200% year-over-year over the past three months, with over 70 million developers using the platform.

Ashton Kutcher backed GitLab in $1.5M seed round before $11B IPO, but payout remains undisclosed

GitLab went public in October 2021 at $77 per share, valuing the company at roughly $11 billion. Sound Ventures, the investment firm co-founded by Ashton Kutcher, backed GitLab six years earlier during its $1.5 million seed round in July 2015. Khosla Ventures led that early financing, with Joe Montana's Liquid 2 Ventures also participating. At the time, GitLab had fewer than 10 team members and was still developing its software development collaboration tools. GitLab's shares closed at $103.89 on their first trading day, giving the company a market value of $14.9 billion, according to Reuters. However, neither GitLab nor Sound Ventures disclosed the size of the firm's investment or when shares were sold, making it impossible to calculate Kutcher's actual return.
