Responsibilities

Oversee the new-hire safety training program.
Support incident prevention by inspecting jobsites and equipment, providing onsite training, investigating incidents, authoring incident reports, and providing information on safety standards and work techniques.
Serve as the onsite Competent Person and perform frequent and regular inspections of jobsites, materials, and equipment.
Oversee additional safety professionals assigned to the project.
Survey jobsites as applicable and advise site superintendents and employees engaged in construction activities, including confined space work, hazardous energy control, fall protection, and scaffolding.
Investigate incidents to determine their origin, root cause, and contributing factors, and assist in preparing written evaluation reports about findings.
Conduct safety education activities, promote safety awareness, lead daily and weekly Toolbox Talks, and provide site-specific training courses.
Consult with technical specialists and program managers about work-process changes and proposed methods to eliminate unnecessary risks and control hazardous conditions.
Train employees and managers to recognize hazards and perform their jobs safely and effectively.
Develop Activity (Job) Hazard Analyses for new major work processes and processes with the highest injury or illness rates.
Conduct Personal Protective Equipment assessments as needed.
Recommend measures and methods to correct safety deficiencies, and investigate hazardous conditions, practices, and equipment to identify and analyze hazards and possible remedial actions, including elimination, correction, or protection.
Perform training facilitation and administrative tasks with the corporate safety team at the Phoenix corporate office.
Provide corporate new-hire safety training, site safety training programs as needed, and administrative and document-control support.
Work closely with project teams and field supervision to help ensure work is planned and performed safely in a fast-paced project environment.

Desired Qualifications

Two or more years of experience as a safety instructor.
Additional safety certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST).
Experience in the semiconductor or high-tech industry.

As a Safety Trainer, you will be working with our corporate safety team with training facilitation and administrative tasks at our corporate office in Phoenix, AZ. You will be responsible for corporate new hire safety training and site safety training programs as needed and support the team in all administrative and document control support. Work schedule and hours: 5 days a week, 10 hours per day with a start time of 5:00 a.m. Potential for weekend work and additional required shift coverage based on project needs.

What you’ll be doing:
As a safety trainer, you will support the application of construction safety standards, company safety requirements, and project specific safety expectations. You will work closely with the project team and field supervision to help ensure work is planned and performed safely in the fast-paced project environment.

Safety Trainers at Harder perform the following daily tasks:

Oversee new hire safety training program
Provide support in incident prevention, including inspecting job site, equipment, onsite training, investigating, and authoring incident reports, and providing information on safety standards and work techniques

Education/Experience:

3-5 years of experience in safety
2+ years of experience as a safety instructor preferred
OSHA 30-hour certification
OSHA 10-hour certification
OSHA 510 certification
First Aid / CPR / AED (must be current)

Additional safety certifications such as CSP, CHST, or OHST are encouraged
