Requirements
  • At least 5 years of product experience with direct experience leading growth in business-to-business software as a service with a free-trial or freemium motion.
  • Hands-on ability with data, including defining metrics, designing experiments, and evaluating what the results do and do not show.
  • Ability to think in outcomes rather than features.
  • Ability to build frameworks and playbooks that improve the effectiveness of other teams.
  • Fluency with artificial intelligence tools for research synthesis, strategy testing, rapid prototyping, and customer signal analysis, with a point of view on their direction and impact on product management work.
  • Strong judgment and prioritization skills focused on strategy and deciding what to pursue.
  • Excellent writing skills for one-pagers, briefs, and narratives that move decisions forward.
  • Ability to lead through influence and trust as an individual contributor.
  • Experience with business-to-business software as a service and understanding of products for support teams versus end consumers.
Responsibilities
  • Own the full growth roadmap, including signup, onboarding, activation, trial-to-paid conversion, and in-product expansion into artificial intelligence product lines.
  • Build and run a high-tempo experimentation practice and distinguish meaningful signals from noise.
  • Design how customers discover and adopt new products within Help Scout in partnership with product managers for each product line.
  • Pursue large growth opportunities beyond incremental optimizations, including work the company has not previously undertaken.
  • Build the growth model, experiment standards, and playbooks that enable teams across the company to execute growth work independently.
  • Provide strategic input to pricing and packaging decisions with product, marketing, and finance.
  • Spend substantial time with customers and in the data, translating findings into insights the company can act on.
  • Work with marketing, sales, and customer success to make the growth motion coherent across the customer lifecycle.

Help Scout is a customer service platform that helps businesses manage conversations with customers and improve long-term relationships. It operates on a subscription model with tiered pricing, targeting small businesses to high-growth startups. The product centers on conversation management, user permissions, spam and SMTP settings, and proactive in-app notifications, enabling teams to respond quickly, stay organized, and monitor performance through detailed reporting. Unlike competitors that chase feature parity, Help Scout focuses on the details that matter most to support teams, aiming to deliver reliable, value-driven customer experiences. The company’s goal is to enable customer-centric service by providing simple, effective tools that support efficient, personalized support and proactive communication.
