Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Professional Certification as a paralegal from an ABA program.
  • Five or more years of professional paralegal experience.
  • Strong management and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the civil litigation process.
  • Proven ability to organize and handle high volume of cases and related pleadings, motions and discovery.
  • Experience providing on-the-job to new employees.
  • Deadline oriented with good time management skills.
  • Able to manage and thrive in fast paced, high volume work environment.
  • Self-starter and team collaborator.
Responsibilities
  • Manages high volume docket of breach of warranty, lemon law, and related consumer litigation.
  • Reviews pleadings and discovery and provides assistance and direction to outside counsel.
  • Manages case files from opening to closure.
  • Works collaboratively with consumer affairs and regional employees to manage litigation.
  • Manage a busy docket of breach of warranty cases, including, discovery review, document organization, witness scheduling, and settlement processing.
  • Open, maintain and close case files using Nissan’s case management systems (Passport).
  • Communicate and liaison daily with outside counsel to optimize case management procedures.
  • Assist in preparing discovery responses, affidavits, and related documents.
  • Proactively identify, gather, and preserve documents and information critical to each case.
  • Provide strategic support to internal consumer litigation team, advocate for case resolution options, represent the company at settlement conferences, and collaborate with consumer affairs on case closure.
  • Ensure compliance with annual records retention policies.
