Requirements
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is preferred.
  • A Doctor of Nursing Practice or Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice is preferred.
  • Certification as a nurse anesthetist is required.
  • A Master of Science in Nursing is required.
  • A current New York State registered nurse license, or willingness to obtain one, is required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver regional, general, and total intravenous anesthesia for a stable mix of cases, including general surgery, sports orthopedics, complex spine, and obstetrical anesthesia.
  • Collaborate with physician anesthesiologists to deliver timely patient care.
  • Precept Columbia University nurse anesthesia students.
  • Participate in peer-reviewed research.
  • Host simulations in the simulation center.
  • Participate in grand rounds and continuing education activities.
  • Maintain a balanced caseload through flexible scheduling.
  • Complete credentialing for privileges at Allen Pavilion, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, and Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, with opportunities for cross-campus and specialty training.
