Requirements
  • Experience with IPC-620 cable manufacturing is strongly desired and a major advantage, but not required; the company will train in all duties required to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to communicate in English is preferred/desired but not required.
  • Training will be provided on internal First Electronics Corporation/Trexon processes and systems as required for this position; training includes removing wire, insulation, tinning the wire, using a crimp tool to crimp a contact onto the wire, and using proper insertion tools to insert wires into connectors.
  • Attention to detail, patience, and manual dexterity are required; willingness to learn and understand training principles for proper cable and wire manufacturing techniques.
  • Physical requirements include regular standing, walking, sitting, and talking/hearing; occasional lifting or moving up to twenty-five pounds; occasional crouching, stooping, or reaching; specific vision abilities including close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; noise level is usually moderate.
Responsibilities
  • Wire measurement according to SAE Standards.
  • Wire insulation removal.
  • Use of a heat gun to flow solder, solder sleeves, and shrink heat shrink insulation.
  • Use of crimp tools to properly crimp pins on wire.
  • Checking for electrical conductivity with a low-voltage wire buzzer to ensure electrical continuity of prepared wire and contact.
  • Removal or separation of shield braid on wire with a razor blade and small pick to terminate shield braid and expose conductors.
  • Advanced skills required upon completion of training include tinning of wire, solder application to wire, contact pins and sockets, and terminal lugs; ability to understand numbers and letter symbols on wiring diagrams; good workmanship in accordance with IPC-620 cable manufacturing.
  • Other responsibilities, initiatives and ad-hoc projects as required.
