What believers are saying

  • Intermountain expanded CHIE feeds in August 2026, adding outpatient ADTs and clinical results.
  • UHIN reported all systems operational on September 4, 2026, supporting reliability claims.
  • Prior authorization rule changes in 2026 increase demand for UHIN's clearinghouse workflow tools.

What critics are saying

  • CMS-0057-F demands full FHIR API compliance by January 1, 2027, straining payer integrations.
  • Intermountain Health supplies CHIE data; any retrenchment would shrink UHIN's clinical network.
  • A major SFTP issue or claims outage would immediately disrupt Utah Medicaid and customers.

What makes UHIN unique

  • UHIN operates Utah's only state-designated HIE and the nation's only nonprofit clearinghouse.
  • UHIN controls both claims routing and CHIE clinical exchange, unifying administrative and care data.
  • UHIN joined the 2026 Da Vinci clearinghouse-to-clearinghouse prior authorization pilot.
