Automotive General Service Technician / Mechanic
About the job
- A current driver's license is required.
- This is an entry-level position requiring 2–3 years of experience.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move more than 50 pounds.
- Ability to work with tools on vehicles lifted above the technician's head.
- Ability to work in tight spaces dictated by the vehicle's needed repair.
- Manual dexterity to efficiently use hand tools.
- Ability to walk and stand for the majority of the workday.
- Ability to drive manual-transmission vehicles.
- Ability to maintain a brisk work pace in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to efficiently navigate a computer.
- Perform maintenance and repair services, including oil changes, tire rotations, battery replacements, suspension alignments, and related services.
- Perform state-mandated vehicle emissions and safety inspections in accordance with state regulations.
- Work as part of a team to troubleshoot customer concerns quickly and effectively.
- Complete full, accurate, and honest courtesy vehicle inspections.
- Ensure preventive-maintenance reports are complete and accurate.
- Comply with federal, state, and local regulations affecting service operations, including hazardous-waste disposal and OSHA right-to-know requirements.
- Assist with housekeeping functions as directed by management.
- Work closely with the service department and communicate the extent of vehicle damage or malfunctions to customers.
- Follow and promote standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
