AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 09, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Today, Overmatch Ventures, in partnership with Valor Equity Partners, 8VC, Banner VC, B Capital, Ambition Capital, Ensemble VC, and Trust Ventures, announced the first annual Austin Deep Tech 50. Partners from the participating firms voted on which companies are making the biggest impact on the Austin deep tech ecosystem. In order to be included in the list, companies must 1) have their HQ or a major presence, including an office, in Austin, 2) be pre-IPO, and 3) build in deep tech. "The companies rebuilding and reinventing America's power grid, defense industrial base, and robotics - the technologies that decide whether America leads the next decade - are doing it in Austin," said Aabid Razvi, Principal at Overmatch Ventures. "Companies featured in Austin Deep Tech 50 have raised more than $10 billion in the past year and we think that momentum is still in its early days." The top 50 spans seven sectors - energy, robotics, manufacturing, maritime, biotech, compute and defense - representative of the breadth of technologies being built in Austin. Across the entire list, defense and energy are the two largest sectors, together making up 44% of the list. * Base Power * Saronic * Neuralink * The Boring Company * Aalo * Fluidstack * Apptronik * ICON * Allen Control Systems * TerraFirma * The Standard Electron Company * Nominal * 1AU Technologies * Galadyne * CesiumAstro * Fluxco * fab2 * 9 Mothers * The American Housing Corporation * webAI * Critical Materials Group * Paradromics * SkyFi * Traysar * Mythic * Bedrock Robotics * Subcritical Systems * Aeon * Hexium * NODA AI * Skyways * First Order Effects * Resurgent Industries * Modern Intelligence * Bravo Ordnance * Terminus Industrials * Autonymy * Deterrence * Emergent Matter * Even Platforms * Group1 * TAU Systems * Umbra * Resolute Grid * Paradigm Robotics * Pipedream * Wraithwatch * Noveon Magnetics * Phantom Neuro * Bedrock Energy The Austin Deep Tech 50 recognizes these companies for making Austin a city known for working on national priorities, from grid reliability to domestic manufacturing. Gallatin AI has raised $50 million in Series A funding, with participation from 8VC and Silent Ventures, CEO Woody Glier told Axios. The California-based startup focuses on digitising and streamlining military logistics and sustainment operations. Unlike many defence technology companies building hardware like drones, Gallatin AI addresses the manual processes that currently dominate military logistics. Much of the logistics data generated today remains paper-based, using clipboards and pens, according to Glier. The company aims to modernise these operations by replacing manual data collection with digital systems.
Latus Bio has raised $97 million in Series A financing to advance two gene therapy programmes targeting Huntington's disease and Batten disease. The round, led by 8VC with participation from DCVC Bio and others, closed on 4 May 2026 and extends an initial $54 million tranche from 2024. The Philadelphia company engineers custom AAV capsids designed to deliver therapeutic payloads to the brain more efficiently at lower doses. The technology emerged from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where researchers screened millions of capsid variants in non-human primates. Latus plans an IND submission for its Huntington's programme in Q3 2026. Its lead asset, LTS-101, targets CLN2 disease and received FDA Fast Track designation in December 2025. The company operates facilities in Philadelphia and Boston.
Daptic has raised $15 million in Series A funding, bringing its total raised to $22 million. Canvas Ventures led the round, with participation from IA Ventures, 8VC, and others. The New York-based company provides software that helps manufacturers integrate regulatory compliance into product development from the beginning. Its product compliance lifecycle management platform gives regulatory specialists, engineers, and other stakeholders a shared system for managing requirements throughout the development process. Daptic's platform uses AI to help translate complex regulations into actionable product requirements whilst maintaining source traceability. The system allows teams to monitor regulatory changes, analyse their impact, and coordinate compliance work across products and markets. The company will use the funding to scale operations, support deployments across entire product portfolios, and continue research and development. Rebecca Lynn from Canvas Ventures and Brad Gillespie from IA Ventures will join Daptic's board.
Armadin, an AI-native cybersecurity company, has raised $255.5 million in Series B funding, bringing its valuation to over $2.5 billion. The round was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Accel, with participation from Bain Capital Ventures and Redpoint. Existing investors including 8VC, Ballistic Ventures, Google Ventures, In-Q-Tel, Kleiner Perkins, and Menlo Ventures also returned. The funding brings Armadin's total raised to $445 million, just seven months after emerging from stealth. The company deploys autonomous AI agents that identify and chain security vulnerabilities into attack paths before adversaries can exploit them. Led by CEO Kevin Mandia, Armadin serves Fortune 500 enterprises and government customers. The company will use the investment to scale its platform and expand research, training, and go-to-market efforts.
