Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5 Years of experience in Electrical Power Generation and Distribution or related occupation
  • Employment experience with CM product and services
  • Application guidelines, failure analysis and troubleshooting
  • EPD Service and Warranty system
  • Customer and Dealer coordination
  • 4-stroke engine technology with focus on spark ignited, lean burn gas engines
Responsibilities
  • Support Caterpillar Motoren (CM) product customers by direct contact and/or through the network of EPD parts and service distributors
  • Provide field expertise related to control, protection, monitoring and regulation systems such as SCADA, PLC, HMI, and other electrical and electronic equipment
  • Provide hands on field support during the electrical commissioning of CM product and BOP (balance of Plant) equipment
  • Prepare technical reports documenting commissioning and other field service-related activities
  • Provide support to the EPD Contract Service Team to ensure duties and responsibilities with customers are fulfilled per contractual agreements
  • Perform Operation and Maintenance Management activities of Power Plants
  • Ensure high opportunity CM product support problems are identified, and solutions are created through appropriate departments
  • Resolve customer complaints and act as the end point for customer disputes
  • Collect engineering data, provide interpretation and support for CPI team
  • Coordinate day-to-day field service activities between engine dealers, field personnel and other departments
  • Resolve engine electrical and electronic components issues and provide technical assistance to EPD parts and service providers
  • Provide hands on field support to customers and end users with diagnosis and repair of electrical and electronic components related to CAT Motoren scope of supply at customer sites
  • Determine product issues considering circumstances of the failure and commercial impact if the failure is not within warranty and policy guidelines in making decisions on repair work and/or product replacements
  • Provide product / procedure training and field support where OEM is unable to address them
  • Create Service letters, Product improvement Programs, and provide technical assistance and counseling to service groups, and other support groups
  • Liaise between the field and engineering, quality control and manufacturing departments for product problems and initiate action and resolution
  • Supervise complex / turnkey power plant projects
  • Support civil / mechanical / plant erection and act as customer contact throughout erection and commissioning ensuring projects meet customer expectations
  • Make technical decisions according to CAT technical specifications, support or reject technical issues at site
  • Attend site meetings, overall commissioning and/or erection documentation
  • Attend monthly meetings, monthly reports, change orders, approving invoices, and preparation of customer invoices
