Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 8 or more years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a related field and 2 or more years of related experience.
  • Experience deploying and supporting production-grade machine learning or forecasting systems.
  • Strong Python skills and experience with Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spark ML, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience with machine learning operations, including orchestration, artifact management, automated evaluation, continuous integration and deployment, and cloud operations.
  • Knowledge of data structures, software architecture, data modeling, and scalable application design.
  • Ability to take ownership and move projects from concept through implementation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
  • Curiosity and a commitment to learning and applying new technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Operationalize machine learning solutions that support investment decisions.
  • Build scalable, cloud-native machine learning workflows using AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, S3, and DynamoDB.
  • Develop data validation, feature engineering, model evaluation, and forecast-quality controls.
  • Support forecasting, risk management, portfolio optimization, and performance measurement across private-market strategies.
  • Integrate generative AI and large language models into secure business workflows and research platforms.
  • Accelerate experimentation, deployment, and adoption of scalable, audit-friendly AI solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies that may strengthen Principal Asset Management’s competitive position.
  • Contribute to internal research, technical thought leadership, and publications.
  • Work with investment professionals, quantitative researchers, data engineers, and software engineers to translate business needs and research models into reliable, production-ready solutions.

Principal to acquire Beam Benefits for $175M in small business push

Principal Financial Group has agreed to acquire Beam Benefits, an employee benefits company serving over 25,000 small businesses. Beam offers dental, vision, and ancillary benefits through cloud-native technology with AI capabilities, generating approximately $175 million in premiums in 2025. The acquisition strengthens Principal's position in the small and midsized business segment. Principal currently serves 180,000 employers with retirement, benefits, and business owner solutions. The deal is expected to close in the latter half of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. Principal Financial Group expands retirement income suite with automated annuity funds starting at age 47

Principal Financial Group has expanded its lifetime income suite, adding LifeTime Income Builder Index collective investment trust target date funds and new third-party retirement income options. Principal Financial Group secures $16M revolving facility at 3.75% to fuel acquisitions and working capital

Principal Financial Group has secured a AUD 25 million revolving credit facility to support expansion and working capital needs. The three-year loan carries a fixed interest rate of 3.75% per annum and is secured by senior liens over PFG's Australian and UK subsidiaries.
