Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successfully pass any background check and drug test required on the contract.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain positive and effective relations with students and provide guidance to support positive attitudes, appropriate behavior, and achievement of goals in the dormitory living environment.
  • Determine and recommend student visits to counselors and health staff as appropriate.
  • Supervise, direct, and monitor dormitory and student activities, including dormitory government and peer court.
  • Assist with dormitory and recreational activities on and off Center.
  • Transport students as needed to and from recreational activities, airports, stores, bus stations, and other destinations.
  • Prepare the morning report, pass list, evaluations, and other administrative correspondence relating to students.
  • Direct students and assist with dormitory cleanup and maintenance; complete dormitory and room inspections; communicate maintenance needs; and recommend or requisition supplies for dormitory living and student safety.
  • Conduct group counseling sessions and dormitory meetings according to schedule; participate in and conduct orientation activities, Center committees, and other activities as assigned.
  • Maintain dormitory and individual student files and ensure they are complete, updated, and contain required documentation.
  • Participate in student training as appropriate and evaluate student progress as part of interdepartmental teams.
  • Serve as CDO when assigned by management in the absence of the social development manager or dormitory supervisors.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property and adhere to standard safety practices.
  • Cultivate and maintain a positive Center climate free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect.
  • Promote student attainment of career success standards by modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition, and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
  • Assist with monitoring student clothing trips as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
