About the job

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in engineering roles, including at least 3 years in generative AI or agentic systems positions.
  • The ability to explain technical concepts and trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ownership of systems through production deployment, adoption, and iteration.
  • Recent, hands-on, first-person production coding experience that can be explained line by line.
  • The ability to work in unfamiliar codebases, debug code written by others, and build functionality beyond low-code and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Genuine customer-facing experience embedded in customer environments and navigating ambiguity and stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Demonstrable production experience building retrieval-augmented generation and/or agentic systems, including retrieval strategy, orchestration, tool calling, evaluation, and safety.
  • The ability to keep stochastic models out of business-critical decisions and establish trustworthy AI output through evaluation and guardrails.
  • Code and project claims that can be substantiated in a live session.
  • The ability to own systems through production and iteration within a team's codebase and engineering discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Run discovery with customer business stakeholders and turn open-ended AI requests into scoped use cases ranked by return on investment, data readiness, and technical feasibility.
  • Build and ship production generative AI and agentic systems end to end, including retrieval-augmented generation, agent orchestration, tool and Model Context Protocol integration, evaluation harnesses, and application and data plumbing.
  • Deploy systems inside customer environments under their cloud, security, and data-governance constraints.
  • Design trustworthy systems by keeping business-critical logic such as pricing, rules, and calculations in deterministic code paths, building evaluation and human-in-the-loop review, and determining when model output is safe for operators.
  • Document systems, run walkthroughs, enable users, and own systems through real production use and adoption.
  • Present architecture, cost, and delivery trade-offs to non-technical decision-makers and maintain stakeholder support.
  • Extend or debug an unfamiliar codebase during the live assistant-off exercise.
  • Explain production incidents, troubleshooting methods, and how AI output safety was established during the production deep-dive.
  • Turn an ambiguous stakeholder request into a scoped, return-on-investment-ranked use case during the discovery role-play.
  • Explain the graph, retrieval, evaluations, and guardrails of a selected AI project in depth during the evaluation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience delivering in regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, actuarial, wealth, or pension environments, including familiarity with data, privacy, and governance requirements.
  • Experience with role-based access control, audit, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, or the General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Depth in governed enterprise AI patterns such as human-in-the-loop workflows, confidence thresholds, audit logging, and escalation-path design.
  • Working depth in LangGraph or comparable agent frameworks, Model Context Protocol, and one or more of AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • A track record of taking use cases from discovery to production with measurable and defensible outcomes.
  • Strong written communication and the ability to teach and enable others.
