Requirements

Proven previous experience in a supervisory or foreperson role, preferably within the civil engineering industry.
A strong health and safety focus.
Knowledge of sealing specifications and procedures.
Technical experience in sealing treatment selection, binder application rates, and site-specific adjustments.
Practical experience with chip sealing.
Ability to drive projects and complete them within specified time frames.
A high standard of workmanship.
Demonstrated leadership behaviours that empower others.
Strong problem-solving skills.
A full New Zealand Class 1 licence is required.
Prior sealing experience is highly sought after, alongside knowledge of aggregates and surfacing (hot mix and chip-sealing) and a technical understanding of these materials and their application.
Ability to lead the team in quality assurance and production.
A strong focus on health and safety for oneself, the team, and the public.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and build long-standing relationships.
Must be reliable and honest.
Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and a health check, and be fit for work.

Responsibilities

Plan, organise, direct, and control the activities and operations of chip seal surfacing across the Masterton Region.
Manage and supervise the sealing crew to ensure optimal resource management.
Work with the Sealing Manager to programme and execute the current and future workload.
Track actual costs against target cost estimates.
Work with the Sealing Manager to help upskill the crew.

Desired Qualifications

Experience using bitumen or emulsion is advantageous.
A Class 2 licence and WTR are beneficial.

As our Sealing Supervisor, you will need to plan, organise, direct and control the activities and operations of Chip Seal Surfacing across our Masterton Region. This will include the management and supervision of our Sealing Crew to ensure optimal resource management.

Role:

You need to have proven previous experience in a supervisory/foreperson role, preferably within the Civil Engineering Industry and have a strong health and safety focus. You also bring:

Knowledge of sealing specifications and procedures and experienced in the use of bitumen or emulsion (advantageous)
Technical experience in the sealing treatment selection, binder application rates and site-specific adjustments.
Practical experience with chip sealing
The ability to drive projects and complete within specified time frames
High standard of workmanship
Ability to influence with demonstrated leadership behaviours that empower others
Strong problem-solving skills

What you’ll bring to the role:

NZ Full Class 1 Licence is a must – Class 2 and WTR beneficial
Prior Sealing experience is highly sought after alongside knowledge of aggregates, surfacing (hot mix and chip-sealing) with a technical understanding of these materials and their application.
Ability to lead the team in terms of QA and production
Problem solving skills and a can-do attitude
